Kiwi Airport Backpackers

Not a great hostel. The only reason I could think to stay here is if you need to catch an early flight, as I did. Utterly soulless with all the most depressing airs of an airport. Common areas are tired and grubby. Only one bathroom. Rooms are crowded and had lights glaring through the curtains all night. Several reviews say that you get what you pay for but I've stayed in many hostels far better than this for the money. Staff were friendly, however, and the free shuttle is great. All in all, fine for a night

Had to meet my daughter, she was put in wrong room. Then moved just before I arrived. Shower hadnt been cleaned. Had hair inside. Dust on walls in toilet as well as bowl was FILTHY.Beds looked like the blankets were just pulled up. Not tucked in.Felt sorry for receptionist, she tried her best.

Bad experience. Unlucky with 2 snoring people in the room but full of mosquitoes. The beds are not made which isn't a problem if you don't mind being woken up at 2am by people trying to make there bed in the dark above you. Common area is a mess with old food all over the bench. I would give zero stars if I could

HORRIBLE, RUN AWAY!! Don't waste your money for a management who doesn''t care about their clients. It is a shame. I have been in a lot of backpacker in my life and honestly this one is the worse for the money asking. A horrible smell of a mix of old cigarette and old mouldy building. You have only a pillow case and one sheet clean. An old blanket with dried saliva and a bed protector with old blood stain. Bathroom was clean but no towels or soap to clean your hands after use. I am a health and safety coordinator and I can't believe they don't even have soap in bathroom. I didn't stay the night, I lost my money but found a more descent hotel who actually care for their clients.

Arrived at the place and found out the room is dirty and the bed are not made. And the only solutions that they gave us is getting the money back or doing the rooms by ourselves, that is not realy fair at all!!The room literally smells like a garage.There are a lot of BED BUGS. pictures are attached.

The backpackers is pretty gross - they only provide you with one sheet and a gross blanket, so you either sleep on the mattress protector or have the weird rubbery nylon blanket on you all night. There's no secure storage for valuables in the room, and the room smelled pretty funky. There were only two showers/toilets for 15 beds, both of which were pretty grim. They have a restaurant on-site that's open until 9.30pm, but they decided to close 40 mins early when I stayed so they offered me takeaways" to eat in my grubby room. Would not recommend

Informed the reception that the room was filthy upon arrival and was provided no solution except to leave my companion in the dirty room (we booked the 2 bed backpacker room) and be transferred into a 5 bed room. Why would I do that? How would that help us? There was no offer to clean it or make it right even when I showed pics of the room. I also contacted the property and manager with no response (it's been a good 3 days since my stay). We had a horrible night's sleep due to worrying about bed bugs given the state of the room...I've stayed at backpackers before, but never one in this condition. You may think to yourself that ah it can't be that bad

Mmm, well, the service at the Hotel side reception was really great but the room was not all that clean, particularly the walls... They had all sorts of smears on them & the floor didn't look all that clean either but the linen and lounge area was clean. Good facilities for a backpackers though.

I don’t really understand all the bad reviews. It isn’t that bad. As a backpacker you’re used to public toilets and cold showers, it’s not what you get here. Sleeping in the backpackers house in one of the dorm rooms is totally fine, bunk beds and two bathrooms (yeah if it’s full it can get really crowded, especially when everyone wants to take a shower in the morning and there only two.) but it is what it is. For every confusion about the pick up/drop off at the airport. It’s the yellow bus that goes directly from the airport to the hostel as well as back to the airport, runs about every 20/25 minutes, and well, it’s yellow like a bright sunshine so you really can’t miss it. Anyways, good hostel for one night if you have to catch a plane in the morning or don’t want to spend too much money on accommodation near the airport.
