In the middle of Somewhere. Camping in the Domain.. simple styles. GPS takes you off the main tar seal... But hey, well worth it. Connected to the Otago Rail Trail.

Not sure that I should tell you about this little treasure of a camping ground. Flush toilet, basic water supply set in well cared for grounds. Minutes from Railtrail and outstanding Waipiata Hotel, with rural views to the mountains. Don't tell anyone else.

Waipiata Domain Freedom Camping
We were lucky to have this place to ourselves. Dogs could run wild. Had a nice walk on the rail trail (primarily to access a toilet 1.6km away as the domain toilet is locked during winter). Good pub across the road too.

Great park up. Toilets and water unavailable during winter to prevent pipes getting frozen and splitting, fabulous views and very quiet. On the doorstep of the Otago Rail Trail

For a freedom camp it is excellent. Dark sky, large open field, clean toilet, very very quiet. Donations are welcome so please be generous to keep this service open to all.

If you are looking for a place to simply park your car or campervan, or a place to put up your tent, then this is great.The toilet is clean and flushing, and there is water.

It's a great place to camp, especially if you are cycling the Otago Rail Trail. The Waipiata Country tavern is amazing for lunch and dinner.
