Thornton Lodge Motel

A central drop-in area, to break down a 7 hr drive from Tolaga Bay to Wellington. Our second time here & the new proprietors were delightful to deal with. Even though the weather wasn't the greatest, some of my family still managed to fit a swim in the pool.

Fantastic place to stay, very comfortable and great friendly service

We were hesitant to use this motel again after a disastrous stay previously in which the room was cold, uncomfortable and nothing worked. However we were assured the previous owners had departed so we booked again and are SO glad we did. The whole atmosphere of the place has changed and you can see that the new owners really care about their clients ( unlike the last owners who had a take it or leave it attitude towards their guests )The motel is welcoming and you can see the hard work put into all the units and the grounds. We were made welcome and nothing was too much bother. The new units are beautifully appointed, spotlessly clean and quiet. The pool is an absolute bonus and very welcomed at the end of a long hot days work. Penny and her husband went the extra mile for us including holding our baggage for a late retrieval, to storing a quad for us in their private space so we didn't have to lug it backwards and forwards for weeks. Thoroughly recommend this motel and it's now our preferred place to stay whenever in Waipukurau.

Awesome hosts!!!.Nice clean tidy rooms..Have stayed here a few times with work & it's really convenient to have off road truck&trailer parking...Would definitely stay here outside of work if I was driving thru or visiting people in town

What a lovely stay and incredibly kind proprietors. The room was clean and had everything we needed (including 3 types of coffee!) The beds are so comfortable that we had our best nights sleep in months.Highly recommended and we will certainly be back!
