Grand Central Serviced Apartments

I stayed in a flat for 2 and a half months. When I moved in the room was worse than dirty, it was even disgusting.I tidied up a lot when I arrived. As a result, I left the flat very clean.That didn't stop me from being charged $90 for cleaning when I left. I sent dozens of letters but the Janaka concierge did not reply.On top of that, there is $190 missing from my deposit which has never been reimbursed since February despite various emails.

I was so scared staying here. They legitimately house crazy people who talk and scram all night. Another person was swearing and shouting at the crazy people plus throwing things at their door. I did not sleep a wink. Its also not clean at all! When I was running out the door, there were police officers attending to issues at this location. I was charged $200 for the worst night of my life. I also haven’t been refunded my $50 holding fee so $250 paid for fearing my life. Please don’t stay here and pay more to stay somewhere nice and safe…please!

Very bad experience with the hotel staff. Cancelled the room in 2021 due to COVID-19 and said that they will keep the voucher value when I book next time. I rang to re book and use the voucher and she said it is not valid. Extremely rude customer service, will never book with them again.

Asked for early check in, and was OK there was an extra charge, but they didn't even get back to until 3 hours after I checked in at their normal time. Rooms were tidy and clean, but there are a lot of people who live permanently in this building. There was a bad smell and if I was staying with young children I'd have sought alternative accommodation. It suited its purpose only because it is situated right next door to Spark Arena where I was going to a concert. I would not return to this accommodation.

Good value for the price. The place looks quite dingy but once I got to my room it was clean and tidy. Good for an overnight stay, the location right next to spark arena is the #1 selling point. Would stay again.

It's a nice enough room, but mine wasn't very clean (and prints on the walls, dirty dishes in the cupboard) and very expensive for what you get - more than the cost of a hotel, and with none of the perks like free breakfast; regular room cleaning; air conditioning; an on-site restaurant, bar, or cafe; anyone at the front desk at all to assist you if you need something; and so on. It's also not really close to amenities, weirdly isolated in the middle of the city somehow. I realize the floods were very recent but I can't understand how the laundry facilities on the second floor still have gross puddles all over the place two weeks later. These guys helped us out of a bind when our other accommodation cancelled our booking. They were friendly to deal with. The location being directly beside Spark Arena was really good - a very short walk home after Morgan Wallen. The rooms are pretty standard but the tiled bathroom was excellent. The water pressure was very good. Overall a good place to stay if you're simply using it as a base for a city trip, it's a shame the bar is currently closed.

We needed a hotel as close as possible to the Great Northern (Strand) railway station (less than 10 minute walk). This hotel suited our needs perfectly. The room was very comfortable which also had a small kitchenette. We were warmly greeted on arrival by staff. The room was very clean and a comfortable bed. The hotel is an old heritage building and yes it may need a bit of work done to it but we had a comfortable stay.

This was advertised to us as “The Grand Central Hotel” but it’s emergency housing and student accommodation. We felt unsafe. It’s way overpriced and they took a deposit when we arrived which as yet, they have not paid back. Yes the place is a nice old historic building but it was dirty and smelly. The restaurant which is still advertised as being opened has closed since COVID lockdowns, the hallways stunk of urine and our room smelt like rotten fish. For a few extra dollars you could stay at the flash hotel across the road. When our shuttle driver picked us up he mentioned that it has a representation of being dodgy. I def won’t recommend or stay here again.

Overpriced and unwelcoming.When we arrived we were shocked to believe that this place was for holiday -goers and assumed it was only for people who live there.The room was okay,but the carpet was horrendously filthy. The walls need to be repainted and cleaned. It was extremely noisy due to its location and the residents in the building making loud noises. People on holidays should not be situated amongst residents. The fire alarm went off in the middle of the night ,lasting for around 15 minutes. This made us concerned ,as we did not know if it was real. However, one of the residents said it happens often.Knowing this place originally asks for a $350 bond is beyond me however, I am yet to receive the bond we did pay back leaving our total for one night at $280. Not worth the money at all ($215) and not the place to stay if you're on holidays,as you do not feel like it. They also said they had a parking garage, but this was not the case. We were charged $15 to simply park at the front door, not undercover.I wish we had stayed elsewhere.I was told I'd be refunded $60 to compensate, but this offer was taken back,as they stated that I can't have it due to leaving this review....
