Went there already twice. Loved the food, it's really Japanese cooked by Japanese. And it's not expensive at all ! Takoyaki were really good. The cold udon could use a little bite more soup to it.

This place is really nice if you want to try Japanese culture food however the portions are very small for the amount you pay. Pretty much like food art/gourmet. So if you are hungry, I wouldn’t recommend this place.

Ordered the Chicken Katsu Curry, it was prepared very quickly (restaurant empty due to the weather alerts). Taste was good but very disappointed in the amount of chicken provided. Very thin fillet and not much provided.

I only got the chicken katsu egg don but that was pretty fantastic. If I were from around here, I'd be back for that.... I came back and got the udon and tartare chicken. Okay, and less impressive. I wish I'd ordered the chicken katsu again.

Was looking forward to trying this new Udon place in town but was disappointed. The udon itself was fine. The online menu is quite confusing to order from. Deep fried tempura vegetables were very greasy and served in a giant clump, unappetizing. Decor is due an overhaul, ripped or damaged furniture, boxes storage in plain sight. Udon works in Dom Road much better choice for udon IMO.

This is one of my staples and has been for over a decade!!! Hands down the best takoyaki, dry ramen, donburi and gyoza I've ever had. The deep fried dumplings are also scrumptious. I'm quite disappointed that they took Mogu Mogu drinks and the pork katsu don off the menu but I'll still eat here. Lovely and hard working staff. Oh and by they way, BYO is accepted here, which is just awesome so I can drink my favourite wine whilst enjoying my donburi or ramen. Corkage is $5.00.Went back since the recent changes and I was not happy at all. So disappointed in all the changes. I'm sure it has been difficult for the restaurant too but as a patron of more than a decade at this stage I truly miss my staple items on the old menu and I'm on the fence about whether I want to go back to try other items on the new menu. In addition to getting our order wrong the flavour and experience of the dishes just wasn't there. It looked like our donburi was not made fresh but just reheated. The only thing that was decent was the gyoza. Quite sad that takoyaki is no longer on the menu. I think I'll go back one more time to see if the next experience is an improvement.

New owner taking over Mentaz. The udon taste great, it will taste even better if the soup temperature a bit hot. You should try kashinawa chicken spicy tempura. A bit pricey compared to the previous Mentaz.
