Paal and the team were excellent. I cannot say enough about them. Great workmanship, extremely professional and answer emails and inquiries within a flash. The main reason we went with them is because they were by far the most responsive than any other company.

From quote to finish Smith & Sons were amazing. They did our bathroom for us and we are so happy with the completed results. Will be using them in the future for the rest of our renovations.

Smith & Sons helped us renovate our original 1940’s state house kitchen/laundry/dining room. Working with Karl and his team was a delight from start to finish. Communication was excellent, including their dealings with other trades involved. I liked their very clear quotes with detailed costings, their willingness to work with us when we wanted to do some of the work and their helpful advice. Their ability to schedule the work realistically and stick to this, and our budget, was commendable. We are super happy with the work they did. See our before and after photos.

We used them to do the structural rennovation work (removing walls, new ceiling, fixing floors, bathroom build) in our ancient 1890s rental. Things did not all go smoothly, as it turns out the house had been badly modified in the past, and we had to do more fixups, but Smith & Sons kept us in the loop and always had positive suggestions. They even ended up covering a lot of the unexpected work themselves. So we were pretty happy despite the challenges. It helps a lot that Paal, the CEO, is a very practical hands-on builder and always gives you pragmatic advice, not just a sales person. We are using them again for a bathroom renno.Edit: the bathroom renovation went very smoothly, even better than expected.

We had the Smith & Sons team come out to Foxton Beach to do a complete makeover to our only bathroom and toilet. They were amazing to deal with, right from the get go! Smith & Sons supplied and installed double-glazing for us.We were very impressed that they were not only willing to travel down to Wellington but also their quote was much better than other local companies.Paal himself came down with one of his apprentices. Both worked to an extremely high standard and faster than expected. I hired Paal and his team to renovate my front porch which is close to 90 years old and was basically falling apart.Paal came in on time and in budget and did a fantastic job, leaving the site clean and tidy.I am using Paal again after the lock down to do some more projects for me.I am very happy to recomend Smith & Sons for any building work.

Following the recommendation of a friend we used Smith and Sons to renovate one of our bathrooms. We found the whole experience excellent. The project was started promptly and progressed at a good rate. Communication was particularly good (in contrast to our experience of another firm used for an earlier renovation) and Karl's project management was excellent.
