Cool llittle township!Stop the car and go for a wander!Check out the hotel and stay for a beer and a feed.Stay the night in the hotel or the butchers shop.Definitely take your time when passing through

If you are driving towards Whangamomona on State Highway 43, you will see this red color signage on the left about 5 minutes before reaching Whangamomona. This indicates the entry point to the Republic of Whangamomona. If you pay attention, there is even a border security officer" (a cow) guarding this south border. If you are driving from Whangamomona towards Stratford

Really recommend stopping by Whangamomona while driving the Forgotten World Highway. The little town is actually a republic and has some cute historical buildings dating back to the 1800s including the iconic Whangamomona Hotel.

A great place to visit. The Pub does nice food. Burgers etc. The place is very peaceful and quiet. It's alot different on Republic Day though.

The Forgotten World Highway. It declared itself republic, can stamp your real passport with their own republic stamp. You can also buy their passport but cannot be used internationally. Very accommodating people. You can go camping. They also sell souvenir items. Whangamomona Hotel, which sell beers and ciders and the best cheese, ham & pineapple toastie

What a cute and interesting place to stop through. Go into the pub and play pool while listening to the free juke box. A lovely and friendly place I'd recommend to anyone passing through.
