Alpine Glacier Motel

We arrived in Franz Josef and selected this hotel from among many choices based on its attractive rooms, location, and cleanliness.We have stayed in accomodations throughout Europe, North America, and Oceania, and this is one of the nicest hotel rooms we've had.The room was beautiful, with floor to ceiling windows looking out to the snow capped peaks beyond. All the little touches that make a hotel special were included: thick white towels (and plenty of them); soft pillows; a luxurious en-suite jacuzzi tub; tea, coffee, and even a french press; a fully equipped mini-kitchen; a king size bed, sofa, and dining table. The hotel is a quick walk to restaurants, shops, and the grocery store. Parking is right outside the room, making it easy to retrieve luggage.Anthony was very welcoming and helped us find a dinner spot. I don't write reviews often, so when I do, it means the place really stood out. Our only regret was not being able to stay another night.Please note this is a motor court, and so no central lobby, bar, restaurant...

We booked this as we were in Franz Joseph for a helicopter hike. The room was really large and had a basic kitchen. The shower was good and the bed large and comfortable. I did not feel it was particularly food value as we paid £260 (uk) for 2 nights.

just a regular place to stay. nothing stands out other than the location. water presssure for the shower is very weak.

Lovely motel. Owners are lovely and helpful. They listed where we could get food, groceries etc. The motel and rooms are well looked after. Clean and very central to town and Franz Josef Glacier.

What a lovely hotel! The room we had was a family room, with a king bed and two single beds all in the same area. The room has a kitchen, with an electric cook top, a microwave, a fridge, and kitchenware. Guests could certainly cook their meals inside. The room was lovely and cozy, and very clean! The bathroom was also very nice and clean. The water pressure in the shower (no bathtub) was also not bad. It's in walking distance to restaurants and helicopter tour places, no need to drive anywhere. It's also a short drive from the glacier trail. Overall, we highly recommend this little gem in Franz Joseph!

Stayed here for two nights while in Franz Josef. It’s a cute little motel with modern rooms containing all of the necessary amenities.The heat lamp in the bathroom turned out to be a god’s send because all of my stuff got soaked by heavy rain fall. The lamp helped me dry everything out overnight.

Rooms are clean and functional. Nothing fancy but very utilitarian. They have all the facilities to make your own meals. If you ask for a room up top you may have a view. Otherwise the lower rooms allow you to keep a watchful eye on you automobile.

We loved our stay. The staff were friendly and helpful. A great location and easy walk to everything you need. Quiet with off street parking.

Nice, but pricy for you get. The expensive breakfast must be the worst buffet breakfast on the planet - or at least a contender. Still better than the food on Qantas.
