Takapuna Motor Lodge

Rooms were comfortable and cozy. Catered to me and my family perfectly. Clean too. House keeping were lovely and consistent. The downfalls were the TV was broken, wifi was annoying and the main reason I booked the lodge was for the playground, pool and spa. Neither were in working order. Doesn't look like they've been used in years, which was very disappointing. Also, it's very inconvenient when they have no one in the office, quite a lazy service. Lucky for them myself and my family are greatful people and didn't allow those things to ruin our little holiday.

First issue was our room being double booked.We booked 1 room with 4 beds and got 2 rooms with 2 beds and 2 stretcher/fold out beds that when i moved in the night, tried to fold up off the ground. Nearly fell off many times.Rooms were also disgusting. Not just untidy but unclean and reception were not helpful at all.Rooms look nothing like the pictures would never ever come bacn.

My family and I arrived there and there was no one at the reception, you have to call them and solve the entrance to the room by yourself. Once we sorted it out, went into the suite and nothing was clean, beds were all used by previous guests, towels dirty and blood stained, trash on the floor, kitchen a mess, too disgusting to use a cup. We asked for a refund to go to another place and the solution they gave us was to put us in another suite and the only difference is that the beds were made but the floor was sticky, the beds smelled of dust and had hair, flies everywhere, just a terrible experience. I will definitely not return to this place and I don't recommend it to anyone. The price is high for such terrible service and such a poorly managed and poorly maintained place.Is just disgusting.

Unfortunately my sister and I stayed 3 nights. When we arrived there was a self check in via a phone call from a centralised call centre. No milk and no wifi so I called the given number again and in about half an hour someone came and gave us both. I called that number several times over the next 3 days as there was nobody in reception. The microwave was filthy , unable to use it and the room was not made up over the 3 days. MouldOn the bathroom ceiling. We ran out of tea. The lights in my bedroom did not work at all and although I called the phone number again to inform them they were not fixed which was very annoying. It was the worst motel service I have ever had. I wouldn’t go back there again. Not worth $149 a night. Horrible experience.

Family of 4 booked in, turned up to check in to find no one at reception, call the number provided and they say they have no rooms available and we are not booked in. I say I have my confirmation email right here and then they say oh yes we do have your email here but unfortunatly don't have any rooms available for you"how is this possible!!!??To be honest

Our first impressions of Takapuna Motor Lodge was not the “warm, friendly service” that the website promises on its front page. We were welcomed to what we now refer to as Bates Motel by a sign at reception which informed us in big bold lettering that the reception building is no longer in service, and that we were not to knock or disturb the owners. According to this intimidating poster, we were to let ourselves into the room that we had been emailed before our arrival.Since we didn’t receive an email, and didn’t know what room we were staying in, we called the “emergency only” phone number listed on the door, only to talk to a voicemail several times. After waiting outside the reception building for some time, a man finally appeared who worked at the motel, but did not know what room we were staying in, and was not keen to look up our booking information and check us in, as he said we should have received an email. He was very rude and dismissive and did not seem to care that we had a booking but no way to actually check in.It took more than an hour to receive a room key, at which time we were told that the room had not been cleaned and we would need to come back later. While the website states that check in is allowed from 2pm onwards, it was almost 5pm when we were told to come back later because the room hadn’t been cleaned.We arrived back at the motel at 6pm and the cleaning staff confirmed that our room had been cleaned and was ready for us. We walked in to find pie crumbs all over one bed, bugs in another, and a sticky kitchen bench. While this motel looks tidy in the photos and from the street, it’s incredibly neglected and run down. The website wrongly describes the rooms as “quality apartments”. The pool is topped with a thick layer of green algae, and our room boasted several holes in the walls and doors, as well as chipped and peeling paint in every room. The curtains and decor are dated and dirty, and the units are damp and dilapidated.Our unit smelled musty, the sheets and pillow cases were stained and while the unit we booked was meant to sleep 6, there were only enough beds for 5 people and a couch (not a fold out). There was no supplied bedding for the couch, and there were only 3 towels supplied for the 6 person unit. There was nobody at reception or answering the emergency line for the duration of our stay so we could not get any more towels or bedding.Our family travels all over the country, and we are used to paying a standard rate for a night in a high standard motel. This motel stay cost us the same as we would expect to pay at any other motel, but was shockingly overpriced for the quality we got. We left the next day feeling that we might have had a more comfortable stay if we had slept in the car.Do not stay in this motel unless you are looking to recreate an experience from the movie Hostel. This motel should be closed down.

Poor services. No one in the office. To call the phone number provides doesn't mean that someone will answer your callWe got the chance to contact someone for extra pay to have an early check-in, the one who came out to charge us, has her PJ on, and has no customer services.

The place looks okish driving in. We came to check in at 3 and the room was still not ready and had to wait twenty minutes. The swimming pool is nothing like the reviews and is covered and the spa is filthy and drained. The playground had a trampoline but it had a hole in the middle with children playing on it.The room itself was average had everything we needed. The bedding had one or two stains. The tv worked but had glitches on the screen.Takapuna Moter lodge is emergency housing so the place is not particularly quiet. But overall the place was ok but keep in mind it doesn’t have a swimming pool and hot tub in service and is very noisy from young children.

Terrible service and check in process. Got overcharged and charged twice so had to get refunded. Filthy and run down. Hot water is at a dangerous temperature. Only good thing was the close proximity to Bruce Mason Centre. Do not recommend this dump to anyone. The website needs to update photos as it is nothing like what is shown.

We booked for a business trip as there was limited accommodation available.No one at reception on arrival and answered door with chain on.Rooms are not as per the photos and very hard to communicate with.They want payment in advance and no refunds or changing of bookings. Our team checked out early as they did not feel safe there and was very un-clean and smelly!For the premium amounts, this motel does not deserve to be operating.
