Mt Roberts Circuit

You can begin your Mt Roberts tracks from two points, 1. Paddy's Track, 2 Pinchgut Track. We took Paddy's Track. We walked downhill a little bit and than all up. When we reached the bush line hut. It was a good place to have lunch. From there we continued up hill until we got to the track that goes to Angelus Hut. From there it is all down hill. You will arrive at the upper car park and than you have to walk along the road to the car park below where you began your hike. It took us 90 minutes to get to Bush line Hut. We had few stops to take pictures. From Bush line Hut it took us 2 hours. The climb up was but steep. If a fat guy like me can do it, so can you. If you took the Pinchgut Track. You will see Lake Rotoiti while hiking down. But you will have to climb from second car park up to the top. We walked with small pace and made it. My calve muscle is bit sore today but I know I will be ok. The toilet facilities at Bush line is clean but you need to get your own toilet paper. The track is well maintained but you need to look where you are stepping next. I will definitely recommend this track to everyone but those with bad knee has to take precautions. I wish I had burnt 5 kg doing this track...lol. oh yes, don't forget to take enough water.

We did this Circuit with our three children (7,5&4)..we started Paddy's track to Bushline Hut and stay over night. If you have children I would recommend start like us and walk downhill next day. We had stunning weather.Because of age of children first half up to Bushline hut took us 3,5 hours (DOC says 1-3 one way) and second day, second half took us 2.5hours (DOC sign says 1.5hours). Definitely have enough water but if not there are two stations where you can refill or little stream under Bushline Hut.If you are reasonably fit it is great one-day hike. Well marked.Two car parks. Bottom car park (no shade, sunny - on the picture) is where Paddy's track starts.

A really good walk, can be walked in around 5 hours. The view of the lake are amazing. 500 meters up and down. Can be splitted for 2 short days by staying in the Bushline Hut
