Holly Homestead Bed & Breakfast

This place was such a delightful surprise. My first time staying at a bed and breakfast and this place exceeded all my expectations. Clean, wonderfully appointed, great location, very good food and Bernie made us feel right at home. Hope to come back one day.

Bernie and Gerard were fantastic hosts! From the second we walked in we felt welcomed and at home. Bernie recommended plenty of things to do and even called a ride to dinner for us. The room was beautiful and had views to match - the toiletries and robes were a nice touch too. A button had popped off my husband's clothing during our travels and Bernie was nice enough to offer to sew one back on! I couldn't believe how kind she was. And the breakfast cooked by Gerard was fantastic- lovely big portions that kept us so full we didn't even need lunch on our hikes! What an amazing place to stay on our honeymoon.

A lovingly restored 1920's homestead hosted by Bernie and Gerard who are warm and friendly and dedicated to providing a genuine 5 star experience for their guests. The rooms were large and comfortable and the lounge area cozy with a blazing woodfire. The special touches including daily baking, cooked breakfasts with home baked bread, and a complimentary glass of port in the evening were a highlight. Their local knowledge both local and of the West Coast was instrumental in making our holiday fabulous. We would highly recommend this accommodation.

We stayed with Bernie and Gerard for just one night as we had to cancel one night due to ill health and we absolutely loved it. Bernie and Gerard are the perfect hosts. Bernie is extremely warm, welcoming and generous. On arrival she gave me some homemade yoghurt and a banana to settle my tummy which was very thoughtful. The place is very well furnished and the bedrooms have everything you would need. The breakfast is 1st class, definitely the best omelette I've had in some time. Only one regret, I wish we could have stayed longer. We'll be heading back there if we ever go back to NZ. I definitely recommend

Pre booked for one night. We could not physically get to Frans Josef due to multiple road closures from the floods. We were still charged for the night. Not good enough! Morally bankrupt

WHAT A B&B!Perfectly nestled at the foot of Franz Josef, the b&b is located nearby everything you will need around, bar, restaurants and the main activities.The building itself is superb and perfectly preserved still from the 20th century. The rooms are very comfortable and perfectly cozy! The view on the mountains is simply breathtaking.The hosts are very lovely, super welcoming and full of nice attentions to the guests. Welcomed with juice, biscuits and helped navigating around the city and seeing what’s ahead in the plan!The breakfast was delicious, cooked to perfection with a very wide choice and the home made bread is to die for.Would recommend for sure!

We had a very comfortable and luxurious stay at Holly Homestead. the hosts are truly amazing people and go out of their way to make your stay as comfortable as possible. the entire place was squeaky clean. Delicious homecooked breakfast every morning and great local tips. Probably the best place in entire Franz Josef for a stay.

We had a wonderful stay, Bernie and Gerard are great hosts and were really helpful during our stay. The house and the rooms are beautiful and make you want to stay longer. We watched the sunset twice from the terrace (it has wonderful views to the mountains). Breakfast was also delicious and prepared with great care. Also the hosts’s attention to details makes the whole experience lovely and makes you feel lucky and blessed (e.g.: there were pillows available for the terrace, they prepared dairy free snacks on purpose for me). I absolutely recommend it :)
