My son and I purchased two separate systems from Steve at Hitek Solar for installation at our homes in Taranaki in early 2020. Our location is out of region for Hitek so Steve recommended a Taranaki based sparkie to do the electrical work while we did the labouring work of installing the panels, inverter, etc. Steve’s advice via email and phone during this was invaluable.One system has now been active for 12 months and the other 9 months. The older system has performed faultlessly with an output from the arrays during summer days greater than that expected. The Inverter on the younger system had been indicating some issues. Discussions with Steve put us on the right track to identify the problem area which was the supply cable from the grid to the house. The fault was nothing to do with the solar itself but the Inverter had identified it was present and had been in the house for some time. Again Steve’s advice enabled the local sparkies and lines company to identify the faulty area. Since the lines company faulty cable has been fixed the output from that system has also exceeded the expected output.Both systems use Hitek’s 330w All Black Mono PERC panels with SolaX Hybrid Inverters ready for battery installation at a later date.Steve is pleasant and excellent to deal with, always responds quickly to emails and phone calls. He does not try to bluff with an answer to questions and I have found him very knowledgeable. I would highly recommend Steve and Hitek Solar to my best friend and anyone considering installing a solar PV system. Pre and after sales service are essential with such a project as solar so go to and stay with the solar specialists, Hitek Solar; not a carpet company.

Steve is a man who is on top of his game. Knows all about solar systems & gives top advise on problems that arise with DIY. Have bought solar panels & stuff & he has always given good advise on how to go about things. Nothing is ever too much trouble for Steve. Very handy man to know when you are doing solar systems. Highly recommend, will go a long way to get another person with as much knowledge as Steve.

Even though I'm in the lower South Island I like to purchase my solar equipment from Steve because of the aftersale expertise he offers.The equipment he sells is high quality and prices are reasonable but his knowledge of all solar is invaluable. Particularly when it comes to component matching, sizing of panels to battery bank capacity, and overall efficiency. Often there are ongoing tweaks that can be made to setting that improve system performance and battery lifespan and his advice is invaluable.He always seems to be poised at the end of the phone just waiting for my questions.I recommended Steve and Hitek Systems 100%.

When I was looking for a solar system for our camper van I found it to be quite an  involved process finding the ideal system that would work for me. Fortunately I found Steve from Hitek System who had an unbelievable knowledge of solar his advice for our setup was outstanding he took the time explaining all facets. He asked what I needed out of the solar for my needs and asked questions that I had not thought of. Consequently the system Steve proposed which we fitted has not faltered even during the winter months. It was a real pleasure dealing Steve recommended high quality Perlight panels and the 5kw SolarX inverter for my 2.65Kw system which I installed myself. The hardware arrived promptly as promised. I needed lots of advice which Steve provided willingly and in great detail service was as if he was just next door. Highly recommend using Hitek for all solar requirements I will be returning later in the new year for more panels :)

Back in Sept 2021 I got 2 x Hitek 330w PERC MONORear Contact Solar Panels and 2 x Hitek 12v-120Ah LFPLithium batteries from Steve, they are true to his words Brilliant panels even producing 1 to 2 amps on days with misty rain. As for the batteries they are also brilliant performing running two gaming laptops and led lights someitmes until the small hours when my son is gaming with his mates on discord only using 8% of charge by morning. Way better than previous larger AHR sla and carbon crystal batteries I had quickly become disillusioned with after the bs hype spun by other companies to sell them to me. Neither the sla nor the carbon crystal batteries lasted more than two years and the controllers were set up exactly to the manufacturers recommended settings. These lithium batteries look to be good for many years to come no real time losses in charging or performance so far.Really excellent to know Steve is totally true to his word about the products he sells, knowledgeable on all aspects of solar and always takes the time to chat and give excellent advice. he is more like a good trustworthy friend than a business man".Managed to save enough to buy two more lithium batteries today.Cheers Steve and thank you!"

Steve provided a great service and arranged an installer to put it all in, everything works as expected and the system has been brilliant. Hitek have supplied us with 20 off 310W panels, a Solax Hybrid inverter, a battery charge manager, 14.4kWh of batteries and an emergency power switch which enables to run off batteries if the power is lost. But the real winner is definitely the Hot Water Diversion Kit, if you have solar with or without batteries BUY ONE OF THESE! Your solar generation fluctuates over the day depending on if it's cloudy, so if you rely on a timer it could be cloudy when this timer is enabled! This device monitors your solar output and operates your hot water element to match it!
