Staff at Hastings hospital are awesome they get 5 stars.Too bad the facilities are beyond their use by date. Buildings are run down and getting a park is always an issue, especially if you're disabled. I often have to park on yellow lines or a footpath as there aren't disability parks available.

It's taken me years to get over how badly I was treated. At 18 I entered the ED bleeding heavily vaginally, in and out of consciousness, feverish and non-responsive. There were around ten other people there and it took two hours to be seen. People seen before me included a man who wanted his prescription refilled and a lady with a sprained wrist. When I was finally taken back I was questioned repeatedly about pregnancy, and then tested for it and STDs, when they all came back negative I was questioned on drug use and then tested- negative. I complained of extreme pain in my abdomen and numbness in my chest. The doctor rolled his eyes at me and asked if I was actually talking about period cramps. At this point I was prescribed ibuprofen and told it was nothing serious. Over the course of this time it was around three hours. I had soaked through my pants and the bedding and some of it was on the floor. At no point was this cause for alarm for the doctor or nurses. I was not consulted about anything other than supposedly lying about being pregnant or an STI. During my stay I passed several masses which years later I would learn was the result of cysts. Ultimately I've been diagnosed with stage 4 endometriosis which is a condition often laughed off by cocky doctors who assume it's dramatics. Never in my life have I been in such indescribable pain. I wasted my time coming into the hospital only to be treated with disinterest and cynicism. I'm not the only person I know who has had terrible treatment here, including several patients who managed to become terminal with cancer despite clear screenings here :) one of which has now passed. All in all, an blight on NZ.

I entered urgently on the 13th around 10 p.m., friendly and quite efficient treatment, thank the medical team who treated me perfectly, the waiting time was long but I don't care because there were more patients in worse conditions than me Thanks also to the Manager and administrative services, I am a Spaniard residing in New Zealand, I understand that these medical services generate a large economic fracture, if so, I do not know how I am going to pay them because I do not have health insurance, divine providence will be my salvation, many thank you hospital

Would not recommend at all and do not expect a support person to be able to stay through the process this was the worst healthcare identify areas your staff members need help with that is clear communication. Shame we do not have another hospital service available

Fantastic ED team. I was treated by a lovely nurse first and then a nice young doctor stictched up my hand. Felt very fortunate.

My review is primarily about ED - Unbelievable. No help whatsoever. Leave vulnerable patients sitting in ED for hours.Putting patients who potentially have covid out in the entrance foyer where everyone coming in and out can breathe their germs and get sick themselves. So disgusting. Not to mention the place feels dirty.Somebody left a RAT test on the seat in the entry foyer and not the cleaner nor 10+ nurses got rid of it.We were sent there by 2 other organisations expecting we would be helped.. And quite frankly, ED were useless. We went there and achieved absolutely nothing, even though they could see something wasn't right. Worst experience in any ED ever
