Waikaremoana Holiday Park
Absolutely beautiful place to stay. First time staying at Holiday Park, will definitely be staying again. Everything is central, clean and tidy. Booked into Self contained Tourist Unit hv own bathroom, full kitchen carport and verandah approx $150 pn (first 3 photos). Friend stayed in Fishermen cabins, these hv bunk beds can sleep 4-5 people, communal toilets/showers and kitchen facilities approx $60 pn (Last 5 photos).

Waikaremoana Holiday Park
Great place. Fantastic spot. Well worth staying at. Beautiful natural scenery without the distractions of telephone or Wi-Fi coverage. The site has good facilities.However... there are small things that let them down. While the showers were great and the toilets cleaned regularly, no one dealt with the flood in the gents for at least 4 days. The 'disabled' access to the information centre is over rough ground through a wood. I suspect that no one has ever used it - it would be very difficult to do.Great that the bread is kept in a giant freezer. But only white or wheatmeal available. Very 1960's NZ.The booking system is pretty haphazard and seems to rely on trust. All the above are easy fixes. It just needs a little love.It is truly a great place to go. Because of its isolation and access via challenging unsealed roads don't think of cycling there. You need a minimum of two days to really enjoy it.

Stayed in a fisherman's cabin. At $65 a night right on the lake shore. Toilets close by. You get a couple of chairs a table fridge, jug, microwave, toaster and heater. Need to supply own bedding and kitchen utensils. There is a well stocked shop.Kitchen and showers a short walk awayGreat walking tracks close by.Friendly reception, but no park or local info given.

Absolutely gorgeous. Lovely friendly staff couldn't be more helpful. Great amenities. Clean. Nice hot shower. Views are outstanding! Bush walks amazing, so ancient. Land of the giants. First time I have seen blue toadstools. If you want to get out of the current 'rat-race' this is the place for you. Just make sure you are CLEAR of 'bugs' before you leave!!

The campground was all good to stay in. Has hot showers and kitchen and petrol onsite. The road from rotorua to the area is fully of pot holes and doubles your time to get there. No cellphone coverage so watch out for popping a tyre. Other side when I left to wairoa side is a bit better the road but still has some pot holes and all gravel roads.

We have been here many times and have always enjoyed it. Whether camping, in fisherman's cabins or a chalet it is always all we need. A great base for the many hikes, hunting or fishing. The kitchen facility is always clean and well taken care of. I am sure we will be back soon!

Waikaremoana Holiday Park
One of my new favourite places! Clean with plenty of facilities and super friendly and helpful staff! So nice going to a campground that doesn't give you a double-sided page of camp rules, everyone had a mutual respect for each other despite being peak season! Also really enjoyed the lack of cell phone coverage and there was still heaps to do during the day! Will definitely be back!

Fantastic holiday park for what you pay. Beautiful lake, warm showers and friendly staff. Did the Lake Waikatemoana walk and for a reasonable fee they dropped us off at Oneputo and picked us up from the end on Wednesday when the water taxi doesn’t run.

Waikaremoana Holiday Park
The rudest staff in our 6 weeks holidays in NZ. It felt like the staff from the park tried ripping us off. We asked for a transport to the start of the great walk near around. For a 15 min drive they were asking for 30$ per Person. Luckily we connected with other people driving us there. As we were cycling we asked if we could store our bikes at their place for the time being on the hiking track. There was a big storage room under the kitchen which we couldnt use, but they offered us another possibility for leaving our bikes there, for 10$ per bike per night!!! Also there is no wifi at the campsite. They tell you to use the free wifi of the Information center around, but it turns off at 7:00pm. Just the main facility was cleaned, the others around were quite a bit dirty. But we have to admit that the kitchen was really big and well equiped.
