We stopped for the night at the caravan park, and headed to the local pub for some tea.As we arrived the staff were writing on the black board a very limited menu. So we ordered chips, onion rings and some chicken tenders.The only disappointment was that we couldn't try the rest of the menu because it was all cooked excellent. The missus' said its the best chicken she's had in a very long time. They even Boxed it up for us as takeaway because our 1 year old started losing it.

Probably directions on Google maps would not take u to the exact location. It will take u to somewhere like a house. But this hotel is just a bit more down the road from there. (drive away from the main road). So, drive a bit more towards like the end of the road where u meet a junction. The hotel is right at the junction. They were open by the midday Saturday. But when we visited there, then only I got to know that kitchen opens at 6pm. So, beware of that if u r interested in dining in. But for drinks it is open at its usually hours. Onsite parking was available.

We own the Glenavys Waitaki River Motor Camp and cant recommend this hotel enough for its delicious meals and takeaways. We have sent a lot of guests down and the only comments we get are thank you for recommending the Glenavy Hotel. The food is delicious. Awesome meals and a friendly welcome, Thanks for looking after our guests.

I spent two evenings there, had a meal both times. The food was great (more than I could eat) I can recommend the chef's garlic sauce. Both the staff and the locals were friendly and accepting of strangers. A proper hostelry, highly recommended.

This hidden gem is definitely worth a visit. I have been out there for evening meals several time now. Without exception, the meals are beautifully cooked generous portions, and staff so warm to regular patron and new comers alike. Relaxed casual warm place to go.
