Very windy & exposed, beautiful views. Big mihi to whoever is doing the tree planting, it's looking great.

Very Good park , Panoramic views of Kaipara Harbour and good walking and horse track. Walking track is about 1.5 Hour loop, Red marker track. Start and go straight from carpark and loop back. Nearby Shelly Bay is great place, Cafe amd picnic too. Have a bit of a long drive, about 1 hour from Auckland but worth exploring places and good for keep coming back.

A hilly walk through farmlands down to the foreshore. Some gravel paths which may not be suitable for wheelchairs or prams. There is a car park, long drop and picnic tables at the start. I would recommend starting the walk from the entrance outside of the car park (think it's usually the end of the walk, it's through a valley rather than starting at the car park) because the loop round is up a gentler slope. If you're trying to get to the foreshore, I would avoid this on a rainy day!

Drove out here today and it was pretty spectacular scenery - although we didn't walk the rack (because it was muddy) we really enjoyed the fabulous views and New Zealand countryside.

Lovely little stop we had here. There is a single toilet available and 2 picnic benches in good shape. There is no shade in the picnic area. As we only stopped here to stretch our legs, we did not go into the park area which really looked amazing.

Nice and peaceful walk. Beautiful surrounding. You really feel like you are away from the city buzz when this is only an hour drive from Auckland

It's open and wide with Panoramic view. The walkway (horse riding track) leads you down to the beach ( better check the tide beforehand). A loop walk is around 12km, takes around 3 hours.Only one portable toilet in the carpark is available.

Great views, good to see nature, cows and lambs. If you want to do horse riding and having horses you can enjoy the park. If you would like to walk only then it is recommended to see views only as it has good walk from car park to the beach and hilly as well so you must have comfortable shoes, water bottle.

The park is a leisurely 75 minutes drive from Auckland CBD. We took the Old North Road to avoid traffic down SH16.The entrance to the park is off South Head Road and has plenty of parking. There's a park bench, a drop toilet, and an information board showing the track/walk to the beach. The walk is a 3 hour round trip at an easy pace. If you can, carry some water with you - you won't regret it.We took the main path (straight ahead of the carpark) to the beach which winded its way through farm paddocks of sheep and cows. The path was grassy and easy but not flat. Its mostly down hill.Once we got to the beach, the tide was quite far out. There were lots of black swans at the waters edge but we didn't venture that far as the sand wasn't that firm and we didn't want to get our shoes wet.We walked back via the northern horse/walking track. This was nicer than the farm track as it was mostly level, and there were large interesting trees which provided shade and a place to have a short rest, and a pond with some frogs happily croaking away. The track itself was open and easy going. The last few hundred meters got steeper as you made your way back up to the carpark.Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed the walk and plan to go back sometime when the tides in.
