Before we leave this city, we visited here again for the best cheese scone and custard in Christchurch.Their staff was super friendly. When we told her that we received a wrong order, she smiled and gave the new food. We will keep a fond memory.

I took my daughter out for a proper high tea after they made up their own at Brownies. It isn't cheap by any means, but the decor is beautiful, and the three cheese tart was to die for. The service was also very good.

First of all the customer service was not great. The lady making the coffee just seemed a bit short/stressed. It was not busy but maybe it had been and that could explain. My friend and I were very excited to the Belgium hot chocolates .. especially considering how good Belgium chocolate is. We were not impressed it was very bald and extremely hot and watery. I feel like this place has so much potential.

We had high tea here this afternoon and it was the best high tea I've ever had. We're vegetarian and usually the options aren't great but here all of them were amazing and a great variety too.Would highly recommend coming for high tea if you're considering it.Lovely setting and vibes too!

I really wanted to love this experience as I'd never been to high tea before, so this constructive feedback is not aimed at our servers as they were lovely. The group of us booked in on a busy Sunday for a birthday and I was impressed with how gorgeous the venue was just to clarify. I had not viewed the website or reviews prior, however when the food came out, I was a bit shocked as it was a 3 tier tray with only a few cakes and savouries which 3 of us shared. At $55 per person, I found this sorely disappointing. The staff seemed short staffed so I don't blame them at all, we got our first round of drinks quickly but then the Sunday rush came and it appeared our table had been forgotten so we had to eventually ask if we could get our 2nd drinks that were included in the menu. We were there for a total of 2 hours, which felt a bit stretched considering how little food there was. I do understand that you go for the experience but I wasn't expecting to leave really hungry. You do have the option of buying more food but when you're already spending $55, why would you?Perhaps this is feedback to be passed on? I do love the concept and again, the venue was great and staff were friendly :)

On entering Penny Black there were very few other patrons but it took being passed from one staff member to another until finally the 3rd to be seated. The initial beverages were served and then finally our high tea but after that not one staff member approached our table to see if we were OK or would like another beverage (which was included in the price). A takeaway box was requested but we then had to ask for a separate box for the diner who was gluten-free. Disappointing service for cost as there are many other establishments in Christchurch who offer better. ”
