Lake Tekapo
Beautiful place, especially at sunset. You can walk around the lake and take pictures from different viewpoints, and you will still get a great view.I went here over the Easter break but would love to come back in the summer, to see the lupins in full bloom.

Lake Tekapo
Lake Tekapo is known for its beautiful watercolor as well as its proximity and access to the Southern Alps. The town is close to Mount Cook National Park and home to lots of great attractions including one of New Zealand's only Dark Sky Reserves.

Lake Tekapo
Smaller as compared to Lake Pukaki but pretty similar in terms of the spectacular sights it offers and the bluest of blue water! Has a church which is pretty popular. The colourful wild flowers that are seen in most pictures of Tekapo are seasonal and not around all the time. We visited and February and did not see any of those flowers then.

Lake Tekapo
This is a magnificent lake in NZ. It has a very beautiful color and inviting. Close by, you get to see awesome flower farm (Lupin), Good Shepherd Church, the statue of Shepherd dog. It's also near some restaurants if you're hungry and keen to buy some souvenirs at the tourists shops. There are also backpackers spaces and hotels along if you want to stay not too far from the lake. Tekapo springs is also a good spot to visit where you can try the hot pools, spa, snow tubing (in Winter), stargazing. It also has a cafe if you're a coffee and sweets lover.

Lake Tekapo
Lake Tekapo (Takapō) with Lake Pukaki and Lake Ohau are three roughly parallel lakes running north–south along the northern edge of the Mackenzie Basin in the South Island of New Zealand. It covers an area of 83 square kilometres, and is at an altitude of 710 metres above sea level. The lake is fed at its northern end by both the braided Godley River and Macauley River, which have their sources in the Southern Alps to the north. To the east of Lake Tekapo lies the Two Thumb range with Mount Toby (2222 m); Braun Elwert Peak (2086 m); Dobson Peak (2095 m) and Mount Maude (1797 m) amongst the mountains over looking Lake Tekapo. On the western side of Lake Tekapo, Mount John (1031 m) is closest to the town with Lake Alexandrina further north and Mistake Peak (1931 m) sitting towards the head of the lake. Cowans Hill (783 m) lies at the southern end of Lake Tekapo behind the township and next to the Tekapo river. The color of the lake’s water truly sets it apart from other lakes. It’s a beautiful turquoise blue is a product of the surrounding glaciers. The glaciers in the headwaters of Lake Tekapo grind rocks into a fine dust on their journey down towards the lake. The resulting particulate, called “rock flour,” is suspended in the water and causes the magnificent turquoise. The amazing color of the lake set against the backdrop of snow-capped peaks and fields of wildflowers makes Lake Tekapo an extraordinarily dramatic landscape. The best views can be had from the top of Mt. John, which is home to University of Canterbury’s Mt. John Observatory.* Some photos courtesy of Internet. Thanks!

Lake Tekapo
Beautiful place to visit and stay around the area. Always wanted to visit the place with my camera to shoot some stars and Milkyway. But could not take good pictures due to clouds. However, the lake is beautiful and worth taking a short walk around from the Church. There are many properties around it offering Airbnb at reasonable price. A good place to relax and enjoy the peaceful environment. We stayed few nights around the place.
