Always a favourite. Lovely bay for a swim and relax. Never too busy due to remoteness. Stunning white sand beach that you can walk along for ages!! Care with boats launching near public access area.No toilet at public area we went to although back past the campgrounds there is a very clean free toilet to use.Highly recommend this beach!

LOVE THIS PLACE still has the non commercial holiday beach atmosphere but close enough to Russell for outings and many other local businesses

Nice beach and view, a pity the male amenities let the camping ground down.. and the shop prices seem expensive ie" 1 lt of milk $6.00 so stock up with groceries before you arrive. staff and administrators are very helpful and made my stay a pleasant one"

Probably one of our favourite beaches these days. This place can do it all for beach holiday's or day trips.Great for kids, nice easy beach to get onto & spend time on, huge beach with lot's of space. Feels like a step back into time when you look seaward, the rock formations are breathtaking. Water can be a bit strong as any beach though, so good parenting still needed when the tamafreakies are splashing around. Is a boat & fishing kayaker heaven from what I've seen.Good rock fishing if you beat the feet to the right, caution - is hard going once you get about 1/2 hour around, you'll feel like you are on Mars. Good shoes & gloves on for rock negotiation recommended. Some seriously cool spots though if you do the work getting around there, for fishing the low tide. You're safe for about 1 hour only odd a 'good' day, after the tide, as hard as it is to do, move off your spot & start heading back, or maybe meet Tangaroa for afternoon tea.Good rock fisherpeople put on a life jacket point to note, If you are around there, don't be a hero especially if not experienced with hardcore rock fishing. The water itself if you look at it is quite rugged & strong in the 'best' spots, you don't want to go getting into it. Barely any flat sand getting around there, you are negotiating good rocky coastline, stay safe around there.Deceivingly beautiful around there for excited rock fisherpeople.Surfcasting off the beach is awesome too. If it's a good day the boaties will come up & express their jealousy jovially when you are hauling in a big Trev from the beach, if it's a bad day, go for a swim instead.Easy car parking when not busy.Gold coin donation at the public car parking for road maintenance, small price to pay for access to this gem.Toilets available back at the aid hut.Keep the speed low when cruising through the small township & the locals will wave with a smile.Cheers.
