When we first met with Aki Yamasaki we were at the point of despair having spent 5 years trying to get my daughter’s fiancé, a Turkish citizen, into New Zealand. His case was complicated by a prior visa denial and suspicions that he had overstayed. It was further compromised by the high unemployment rate and a complex employment environment in Turkey leading to a fractured and variable work history. We had been using a Christchurch immigration lawyer with little real progress being made. My partner and I arrived in NZ in June and it was a very challenging time for us as soon after we were faced with COVID-19 restrictions, lockdowns and border restrictions. My partner faced a lot of completions with his visa and we felt like we had very limited options. When we came across Aki we couldn’t believe our luck, as for one he was available to speak to us after your typical immigration services hours and we were pretty desperate to speak to someone immediately.
