Pōtaka Marae
A very special place, where many of my whanau are buried in the urupaa out front. Further north of Te Araroa, it stands on the opposite side of the road from a local school. This marae is dedicated to the fallen soldiers of Te Hokowhitu a Tu / the Maori Battalion from both World Wars, in commemoration of their sacrifice to ensure our freedom.

My Aunts tangi was held here. The whanau were awesome. Kai was on point. Thank you for your hospitality.
