We had an absolutely brilliant day at the Antarctic Centre! We met huskies, spent time with Lizzie the penguin behind the scenes, experienced an Antarctic storm, stepped up to the ice challenge and had an exhilarating ride in a Hagglund - an epic day that is truly 5*s and I would highly recommend to anyone!

Fun experience for all ages. The snow storm and Hägglund vehicle ride were really special experiences. We spent around 2-3 hours at the centre and were able to get to all the different experiences. Highly recommend!

The Antarctic Centre is amazing and well worth a visit. There is plenty of variety and it gives you a good idea of the conditions that people have to endure in this inhospitable environment, Make sure you go when you can experience the storm conditions and see the penguins being fed and stroke the huskies.

We provide av, film and photography services for events and conferences held at the IAC. It's such a dream venue to work in - the staff are incredibly helpful, all of their customers seem to love having their events there and who wouldn't want to hold a business event where you can mingle afterwards in a storm room or visit the penguins!? We highly recommend hiring one of the many International Antarctic Centre conference spaces for your next event.

Really fun and educational experience. The 4d movie was fun and offered gorgeous views of Antarctica. The climate change movie was very informative. We also loved the hägglund ride, storm simulation, and ice water challenge! The staff was so friendly and made the experience really fun. Also great to see penguins and huskies.It’s a quick walk from here to the airport, and they will store your bags for you if you’re going before your flight. We were able to see everything in about two hours, but we probably could have spent another hour there if we had more time.

Fantastic experience. Plan to spend a good 3-4 hours. Penguin feeding, 4D cinema, snowstorm experiences are amazing. One of its kind center giving visitors a feel of what it's like to experience the great icy continent of Antarctica. Good Cafe. Accessible by public transport, close to the Christchurch International Airport.

A really fun place to visit. Some really cool interactive experiences. I loved the ride in the Hagglunds. The snow storm chamber was brilliant, and the blue penguin, and husky shows were great. Also had a nice gift shop with some fun stuff, and lovely staff. Definitely worth visiting the International Antarctic Centre.

This is right next to the airport and has luggage storage, so it was a perfect getaway to avoid just waiting in the airport all afternoon! There are a lot of penguins, and they are all so cute. We did the VIP backstage tour, which was super cool, and I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to learn more about penguin conservation efforts in NZ, or to anyone who just wants to see a cute little penguin up close and personal. I would definitely recommend a visit here!

Located adjacent to the airport and alongside an Antarctic research building and passenger terminal (!), this facility has many educational films, exhibits, and activities. It tries hard to capture the imagination of children - including simulation rides, a 4D film, a 5-minute wind storm, petting the huskies, and watching little blue penguins get fed.
