Grandeur Thermal Spa Resort

Not Grandeur. No spa. Not a resort at all. Should change name... It doesn't fit. Room comfortable, warm, clean.... OK. Needs refurbishing, bit run down. Whole facility could do with a makeover. Looks like most 'guests' are government emergency housing inhabitants. For what we paid, we could have had better and been closer to town or lakefront... even during school holidays.

Will not book here ever again. Dining chair not sturdy. Looks too old.Not worth it for our payment. my mom almost fell from their dining chair. stairs too noisy when used. found cockroach under the bed. shower drainage unable to drain the water and dirty. No appropriate lock for the toilet. Someone could come in anytime while your in the shower or toilet. Really not worth it. I was hoping its clean and tidy.I mean look at the dining chair.

After reading some reviews, I was a bit worried about staying here, but we had a great time!The room looked recently renovated, things were generally clean & the staff were friendly. The room had good air conditioning & a nice spa bath big enough for two.It was also in a quiet area & was near a natural hot stream.Sure, maybe it wasn't spotless, but to get such a big room for this money is great value. I'd definitely stay again.

The rooms are very dated, superficially renovated but not well maintained - the photos on the website do not match up to the real thing. To say this place is run down is an understatement. Damp, sour smell in our unit. Cockroaches in the bathroom and kitchen (live and crawling). So much mould growing on the bathroom ceiling and also on grouting. Hair inside all vanity drawers. Dead insects all over the floor, in the spa and on window sills. Used cotton buds on top of the bed heads. Curtains hanging off the rails. Weeds growing in the spa room which also had holes in the roof. Spa too dirty to even contemplate getting inside. Broken chair leg on dining chair - thankfully noticed by my husband before anyone sat on it and had an injury. Thankfully the sheets and towels were clean. Such a shame as the surroundings/grounds are so peaceful. We survived one night but was so dirty we didn't even want to risk making a hot drink in that unit. Didn't use the shower - thank goodness for hot pools in Taupo. Very overpriced given the state it's in. Would NEVER stay here or recommend to anyone in current state - save your money and health and find somewhere else to stay in Taupo.

On arrival thought, this is an odd place but the room seemed clean enough and recently renovated. So for the price figured, fair enough.Not until middle of the night trip to the toilet that revealed a massive water leak, which we advised the reception in the morning of and a smell that gets into your sinuses and never leaves. And mouse droppings everywhere that wasn't at eye line. We were told it would be dealt with. It wasn't. Nothing done on our return. Will never stay there again. Others may have better luck.

This place is very strange - completely run down & in need of a paint job & repairs. Some time has been put into renovating the rooms - ours had a very nice bed but everything is somewhat unfinished. The location is quite nice close to some thermal pools which are free to use. Overall an unusual place with a lot of potential. Try if you have an open mind

When I first read other reviews, I was worried and didn’t know what to expect. But I was very pleasantly surprised. Reception person was very friendly, kind and helpful. Room was very clean, tidy and well equipped. Everything working well. Provisions well provided for. Nice comfy bed and clean sheets. Quiet and spacious. Couldn’t have asked for more! Well worth it and definitely will stay here again.

If I could give negative stars I would!! Absolutely disgusted is an understatement. Found cockroaches EVERYWHERE!! In the sink, in the kettle, all over the walls and the table. Got bitten by something over three times in my sleep. Bathroom was dirty. No shower pressure. Walls are so thin I can hear every conversation. Horrible wifi and service. Weird lingering stench that gave us headaches. Most importantly, the staff did absolutely nothing and said they could give us a refund only if we left at 9pm at night (had called about cockroaches)! Was called a liar and refused a refund. Do not stay here!!!!On a positive note, the heater was quite lovely.

We were disappointed. Whilst the beds were comfy and the shower had decent pressure that was where to good stopped. There were cobwebs everywhere, the surfaces were dusty and the place needs aVast amount of maintenance. The place is very disjointed with a large shed thing in the middle which appears to be unused. The spa bath was stuck out the back and was not very inviting at all.

One of the most unclean places I’ve stayed in. There were bugs everywhere and when I first arrived there was hair in the shower drain that hadn’t been cleaned. The drain in the sink wasn’t working and there was dirt all around the tap. The next morning I woke up to a cockroach in the bed. The place is very isolated and gives a weird vibe, also the walls are very thin as we could hear the neighbour's next door. Overall would not recommend, was not a pleasant experience. Staff was good but was very annoying as we just wanted to enjoy our stay.
