Kiwi guardians walk.Fantastic easy walk, the cave and stairs were definitely a highlight, lots to explore around the trout pool end.Ridge track had an initial climb up but after that was easy.

River was sooo high today, no rafting but amazing views and stunning native bush. Kids managed the one hour of walking trails easily. Found some cool Hinemoa caves too with big bush weta inside.

Okere Falls Scenic Reserve Parking
A beautiful and immaculate reserve with the Okere river flowing right round. There are many small waterfalls along the walk and the spot where pioneers began the areas first hydroelectric power system. Along the walk there are historic caves where once the local Iwi hid for safety. Absolutely love the history. Another beautiful NZ spot to visit.

Reasonably sized (no camping) car park, right at the Okere Falls Track start. There are some picnic tables located at the car park.

Okere Falls Scenic Reserve Parking
This is a perfectly good woodland walk plus occasional encounters with rushing waters at close quarters.The hydroelectric infrastructure is long gone which is a pity as it would have been good to see such ground-breaking engineering, even if non-operational.The day we went the river volume was more than double the normal due to the recent cyclone and its downpours.This meant no white water rafters or kayakers.A shame as this would have turned an average walk into a great one.
