We stayed in the Miner's Cottage and enjoyed luxury after a day of cycling. The cottage is well appointed, clean, warm, and has a deep bath that was welcome and enjoyed. The breakfast was plentiful and very well presented with lots of options.Recommend.

Lovely hotel that makes you feel like you have gone back in time. Each room is individually decorated in a late 1800s style but the beds were extremely comfortable and the bathrooms were modern. We had dinner there too and the food was excellent.

We didn't stay this time but went for a meal on Mother's Day. Well what a disappointment! The staff were very casual not even bothering to show us to our table. No menu was offered nor was there any water provided for our table. The television was left on with a sports programme, hardly appropriate when it looked like most people had come for Mother's Day. The food was definitely below par and when the plates were collected we were not offered any refreshments. A very poor show. perhaps some intense training for the wait staff might be a good starting point!

We stayed in one of the cottages, very comfortable. Had dinner at the hotel and we were very impressed with the 2 young women serving. Super friendly and happy to chat and answer questions about the history of the hotel and area. They really did make the whole night memorable.. .And the food was absolutely delicious!!! Steak was cooked to perfection, the others had chicken and were equally impressed. Will definitely go back and will happily recommend to others

My 3rd time staying in this awesome town. It's a place that people drive through to get to the coast. Thank goodness I went with the tramping club and realized what a gem we have here. The owners have bought the old buildings and restored them as they would have been in that error. The food is fantastic and the local young lady who served us gave us a guided tour so my friends could see these incredible rooms and buildings. She ran though some of the history of the characters who lived in each place with passion and clearly loves the town.I'll never tire staying here and soaking up the rich history.

Absolute gem of a pub/restaurant! We stopped here after a long day of hiking in the Arthur's pass national park. Was a nice local place with very nice food - well presented and tasty. Good beer and wine selection too

Spent a night in this lovely spot whilst on the coast for work. Great hotel, staff were very helpful with advice about parking my large vehicle and the meal was a real treat. Had the vegetable stack.

We ate lunch at the pub (didn't stay at the hotel). The outside seating area is lovely in nice weather. The service was good and food came out so quickly that we were surprised. The venison pie was great, the meat was tender. The fried fish tasted fresh and the batter was crispy and light.
