Jake and Chris as our half day kayak guides provided a great experience. Despite being POMs, over the last few years they have picked up lots of local knowledge, stories and legends.Great equipment in excellent condition. We had wonderful conditions on the water and saw Penguins, stingrays, fish and of course great scenery. Thanks for a great trip.

We loved our trip with Wilderness Guides! We spoke with Hayley ahead of time to get a sense of what to expect from the trip — she was a helpful, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable resource. Alex picked us up from our hotel via private water taxi for a mountain biking tour on the Queen Charlotte Trek. He was a great match for us — laid back and full of knowledge about the natural and cultural history of the area. He answered our MANY questions with gusto, and took great care of us.As a side note, if you are considering biking the Queen Charlotte Trek, ensure that you are comfortable navigating steep and loose terrain on two wheels. While the trail is not technical and is certainly manageable, it was precarious at times and took some skill (even with an e-bike).We would 100% recommend taking any tour with Wilderness Guides. They are clearly a well-organized, thoughtful, and knowledgeable company, and the staff take great pride and joy in what they do! Our tour was one of the highlights of our trip to NZ!

Steve and Martin not only set us on the right course but then made sure to let us know when it changed. The wind forecast changed on us and Martin made sure to get in touch with us to help us understand an alternative itinerary. We talked to another group of individuals who had to be told by a passing fisheries vessel that the sound was about to be hit by gale force winds - when they called to ask their provider about it - they admitted they hadn’t heard.Steve and Martin adapted and arranged our admittedly complicated itinerary of kayaking out and walking back with absolute ease. Top blokes the both of them!

We and our teenage boys had a fantastic time on the Queen Charlotte Walkway. The Wilderness Guides took all of the hassle out of the organisation and the team were friendly and practical. We hired walking poles and they promptly replaced a faulty one mid-walk, and also sent earbuds left behind to our next stop - before we had even realised that they were missing.

It feels that we have been communicating with Wilderness Tours for ages as our original 2022 booking was postponed for 12 months due to Covid. Communication prior to our trip was very efficient. We did the 4 day Queen Charlotte walk. Unfortunately on Day 3 I took a fall & broke my wrist. The support we received from Martin was amazing. He arranged a water taxi from Torea to Lochmara to pick up our luggage, then to Picton so we could drive to the hospital in Blenheim. Meantime he was phoning around to arrange alternative accommodation for us on a very busy weekend in the area. It was service above & beyond, very supportive. Thanks Martin

We went out for a full day of kayaking with Jake and had an incredible day. We were very impressed with Jake's knowledge of the local flora and fauna along with his knowledge of the local culture and history.I quite liked how there's no concrete plan for the paddle as it allowed flexibility to adapt to the weather conditions and paddler capabilities.A particularly unexpected bonus was how nice the vegetarian and vegan packed lunches from Picton Village Bakery were!

Solid hiking and kayaking outfit for Queen Charlotte Track and Sound activities. Guided or self guided. Also rent electric bicycles for use on/off the Track. Well organized and well run. Equipment top notch and in excellent condition. Friendly guides.
