Dean Jeremy Lucas & DL Kitchens did the work sufficiently to look okay at a surface level. Once you go beyond that you start to find the problems - changes in design, dodgy installation, sneaky hidden errors. And once you get the problems, Dean shows his true colours and ghosts you. Be wary of using him or any company he is connected too for any work around your home.

HI All..... In share desperation I put this company and its holding company - Cuassin Investments Limited into liquidation in mid December 2020. Stay away from Dean Lucas or any business he runs!!!!! It will only end in heartache if you deal with him.

Be warned. The Tribunal found against DL Cabinetmaking Ltd. The company must pay $15,000 to us by 28 February 2020, and also their final invoice for $8,295 was dismissed by Order of the Tribunal, total $23,295 against the company. The Tribunal judged the shoddy work of DL Cabinetry Limited (in liquidation) as a substantial failing under NZ Contract Law. DL Cabinetry Limited (in liquidation) was found in breach of the Fair Trading Act due to misrepresentation on their website which claims they have Award Winning Designers and a Product Warranty. Also found in breach of the Consumer Guarantees Act for not delivering in a timely manner, failure to complete the job, and multiple faulty workmanship. Here is our story. Appalling company to deal with. We had a $110,000 Contract signed by Dean Lucas, Director of DL Cabinetmaking Ltd. Our costs to remedy their faulty or incomplete work is quoted at $34,000 by a reputable cabinetmaker. This company operates by demanding 90% of the contract price before installation, and then they walk away with your money. Unauthorised design changes, poor workmanship, zero project-management and lengthy delays to start the job. We paid $100,000 upfront in January 2018. They were contracted to start on 9 February 2018 but did not show up for 3 months. They eventually did 1-2 days per month on our job and never completed. If you try to find out what they are doing on your job, Dean doesn't return phone calls and doesn't reply to emails. Just two examples of cowboy workmanship- They made wardrobe doors too big then just hacked off the bottom of the doors, roughly with a saw, in our garage. Not even cut straight, not even painted! Unreal. Similar cowboy type behaviour regarding our glass-fronted kitchen island. Dean couldn't be bothered to make it according to the plans. It hasn't even got a square base!Do not pay any upfront money to this company. DL Cabinetmaking Ltd went into liquidation on 23 November 2018. Shortly thereafter Dean Lucas started a new company called Cuassin Investments Ltd trading as DL Kitchens and Cabinetry Ltd, out of the ashes of the old company leaving behind massive unpaid debt. The Liquidator confirmed on 19 December 2019 the Company left behind $671,762 in debt to unsecured creditors. Most suppliers will never be paid. We will most probably never get the $15,000 awarded to us by the Tribunal.Dean Lucas was investigated for breaches of Phoenix company regulations by the Companies Office in early 2020. He was issued with a formal warning by the Companies Office on or around 20 February 2020 and as a consequence of the warning, he was forced to resign as a director and shareholder. The new company continues to trade off the same website and offices as the old company.Do not do business with DL Kitchens and Cabinetry Ltd, Cuassin Investments or any other company run by Dean Lucas and Sarah Lucas. This company took our money, did an appalling job, never completed the contract, wouldn’t let us view their claimed Product Warranty or design Awards and attempted to get final payment without completing the job. No communication, work not done, but our money has gone. Crooks."

The worst experience I have ever had from a trade. Disputes tribunal cancelled final invoice as the work was not completed and awarded the maximum of $15,000 for remedial work to be done and for breaches of the Consumer Guarantees Act and the Fair Trading Act. See No More Cowboys for other scathing reviews of this very substandard business. Be warned!!Also the website has been changed more than once so that bad reviews are deleted and they can start afresh with shoddy work for more unsuspecting people parting with their hard earned cash.
