This agency was not honest with me, and I suspect they have discriminated against other applicants also. Possibly age or family status being the reason.I laid a complaint with the Human Rights Commission, and they were VERY interested in investigating the complaint further, based on the evidence I had provided them with (a copy of the advertisement and an email they wrote to me). However, I was so upset by the whole thing that I just wanted to forget it had even happened and decided not to pursue it. I believe in karma, and this business will go broke if they treat people like this. Hamilton is a small place, and word gets around. The agency told me I hadn't been as strong as other candidates when I applied for a position with themselves, that I was over qualified for. They said it was because of those stronger applicants that I hadn't been shortlisted. I was surprised that so many stronger applicants had applied as the role wasn't exactly difficult or paying very much. I quickly discovered this was an outright lie, as no one was shortlisted - they re-advertised the same role within a day of advising me why I hadn't been shortlisted. Not only this, their ad was worded in very suspect ways such as saying it's who you are as a person that will get you the job, and targeting junior people with no experience in the industry (i.e. young people). Employers can't hire someone based on who they think they are as a person - this is very subjective and can be seen as discrimination. How do they form opinions of who we are as people, based on our CV? Maybe my age shows who I am as a person, or my race, or the fact Im married with children. They should be specific about what defines who someone is as a person if they want to ensure they aren't discriminating. The role was targeted towards a junior, and despite having extensive experience I was advised stronger candidates were shortlisted, when in actual fact none of us were. It makes zero sense that you would tell a candidate they didn't make the shortlist because of stronger applicants, and then to re-advertise asking for a junior with no experience, unless age or family status is an issue for them. Also, they advised the role was between 20 to 30 hours a week, and that it was for two days a week. I'm no mathematician, but this would mean someone could potentially be asked to clock in at 7 am, and leave work at 10 pm two days a week in a row, (and that would be without a lunch break!) This sets the successful candidate up to be put in a very unreasonable situation, potentially. This is a new agency to Hamilton, and I have serious concerns about their professionalism, and employment law knowledge. Or maybe they just think all their applicants are clueless when it comes to their rights.I would recommend Asset, to anyone in Hamilton. They are professional. I am fine with rejection normally, but this seemed highly dodgy. I have never made a formal complaint to the HRC before. I have only gone to this trouble because I am strongly concerned that a recruitment agency, of all employers, would discriminate.

Natasha was so lovely and great to deal with and she always responded to my queries promptly. I would highly recommend her and her team.I'd spoken with a few other agencies and NextMove was by far the nicest and most professional of them all by a long shot.
