Lake Gault Track
A well maintained track with a few moderately step sections.Achievable by most fitness levels.We took our two school aged children, and took around 3 hours, + about 20 minutes at the top.

Lake Gault Track
This track branches off from the one around Lake Matheson. Moderately difficult, it’s a constant slope up so fitness is required. It gets to a point where it goes downhill again to the lake. It says 3hr return but it took me 1.5hrs bcos I ran for a bit of the track (especially downhill, sometimes it’s easier to take the pressure off the knees) - honestly I felt the effort was not worth the view at the lake. If you really want to go for it, just get to the lookout point where you can see the open plains then turn back. That’s a better view than the lake, with less effort.

Lake Gault Track
Best to go at dusk or dawn to get the best experience - we were only going to walk a part of the track and ended up going the full loop. The scenes are incredible

Lake Gault Track
It’s a hard uphill track, so you need to be fairly fit. Took 3 hours including lunch at the lake
