Really enjoyed dining there. Food came quickly.Enjoyed my main. The margarita and pina colada were very good.Service was awesome on all the 3 different times we went there.We had the rib box a few times, too...very yummy.Didn't like the crème caramel, though(It's my opinion, someone else might like it).

We had a lovely lunch here on the way back to Auckland. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Food was lovely. Enjoyed our meal.

Dined at Lone Star earlier tonight with three colleagues, and was given a card encouraging us to leave a review.I would surmise the meal as average. The garlic Cobb loaf that we shared to start was pleasant. The redneck ribs I had as a main were underwhelming. The chips were nice and crunchy, though oversalted, and the coleslaw was fine. The ribs were really nicely cooked and had a lot of meat on them. However, the sauce that covered the ribs was very unusual, and not in a good way. It was overly sweet and lacked depth of flavour. Additionally, while the portion size was more than adequate, the cost was high to match - $43.80 for a meal including 9 ribs, coleslaw and chips.I didn’t have dessert, but my colleague did last week. He described his banoffee pie as “pretty solid, but weirdly distributed - all the caramel was pushed to the back.”While the food and value was a bit of a let down, the highlight of the evening was our waitress Tina. Tina has a great personality, with quick service and quick wit. Thank you Tina!

Really loved it here..we only could get a table outside and it was raining so we nearly canceled but decided to go anyway..and it was really beautiful..it was actually better than sitting inside!!lol!! The food was delicious too..the burger was really good..and the steak was to die for..seriously GOOD!!..and we had a birthday lady with us and they sang her happy birthday and gave her a beautiful lil cheesecake..candle and all!! Really loved sitting outdoors with the heaters and blankets..was really nice!!

Have dinned at Lone star Whangarei a few times now and it has been good but very disappointed by our recent experience.It was quite quiet when we first arrived but did get a bit busier while there. Either way we didn't see much of our waitress. First complaint was a 1/4 strength coffee was made quite strong but this was remedied. Secondly my sister was told her lasso meal was unavailable and asked to choose something else which she did only to find out that it was actually my new porker meal that was unavailable. This was only after I had started to eat my meal and said this doesn't seem like what I ordered that my sister noticed that it was what she had ordered!! The lasso isn't something I would have ordered as I don't eat a lot of gluten.I would have been okay with the mistake if staff had been apologetic but no one was and blame was but elsewhere on the mistake. We were then going to be charged for the more expensive lasso meal that I didn't even want (except I ate because I was starving by time meals finally arrived). So we did end up only paying for the slightly lesser new porker meal but a bit disappointing having to eat a meal I never ordered or wanted and staff not even caring. I really doubt I will be back or anyone else from our party of 11.

Lone Star's garlic loaf has THE thickest and most flavoursome garlic butter spread i have ever had for an order of garlic bread!The middle loaf slices have the spread thickly applied and seeped-into on both sides of each bread slice. Fabulous!Steak was ok - not the best i have tasted (that honour goes to the matsuzaka beef at Steak Satou located in Kichijoji Tokyo), but the marinated cajun chicken dish my fellow diner ordered was done really really well!Ended up 110% full :)

Came in on a Friday afternoon around 4.30, the 5 of us were really lucky to have Tina serving us. She went all out to make sure we were welcome and catered for all our requests and didn't even mind changing our table. Genuinely got the feeling she was happy to serve us and made our whole dinner amazing. Lone Star Whangarei are really lucky to have a staff member like Tina. They are not all so accommodating. Tina you have a great vibe and your an absolute star at customer service. Thank you

Food - Flawless...when it finally arrived an hour later. I also had to go to the host stand to order the desserts for our 3 youngsters.Arrived and seated promptly at our reserved party table. Drinks order taken immediately. 20 minutes later another waitress arrived to take our food order. Informed her our drinks hadn't arrived yet. Apparently they only had 1 bar staff on because Tuesdays are normally quiet. Note: 4 large parties in the function room, bar and main section were full.When our dinner arrived, 2 members had another 10 minute wait for their burgers.During our 2 1/2 hour long dinner our table was half cleared once. One of the other parties had mussels which completely stank out the function room. It smelled like a wall of urine hitting you in the face when you walked in.While the staff were lovely, and doing the best they could with being so massively understaffed, and the food itself was incredibly good, I would not go back to Lonestar.Final point...they had a Winter warmer special for 2 which many of our party would have liked to order, the special was tucked amongst the napkins and other menus, so we didn't even know about it until well after we had ordered.
