Clean, well stocked, friendly staff at the deli, great choice of beers

Like all supermarkets, you go in and grab what you want and need and then disappear, only really talking to checkout person. Especially if you want cigarettes.

Closest Countdown to me but I will drive to Richmond or Nelson in future as some of the staff here are very rude and this isn't the first or second time and I only go there if it's more convenient such as a quick chocolate fix or in this case to finish my shop in Stoke. Went to buy toothpicks today and bottled water as New World Stoke were out. Ticket price $5 scanned price $6 and I had 2 of them. I scanned the first then asked the self service person for help to check the price. She was only interested in which of the 2 I had scanned when the bar codes were the same. She treated me like I was 2 years old, I walked out after the way she treated me, which is something I have never done before. I went to Pak n Save in Richmond instead and they were under $3 each. I will say that it's NOT Countdown per se just this branch as I find Richmond and Trafalgar Countdowns exemplary and Nelson Countdown is pretty good too for staff experiences. I have just started shopping at New World Stoke lately to get in on the free glasses and the full sized spring rolls only they seem to sell and not only are the staff the best I've ever come across even the other customers were so helpful showing me a new shopper where stuff was. All I can say is don't avoid Countdown just avoid the Stoke one. p.s. Lynn is great as are some of the others there.

Not a good supermarket. Layout is bad, most food overpriced, hard to find any staff members to help.

I like the store but the do-it-yourself checkouts are a huge pain. The machines constantly error out, so when the checker who supervises the machines is away you are stuck until they return. It can take a while. I've just walked away without groceries before when this has happened. I'll not use these fast" checkouts again."

I like this Countdown - I used to shop there before - I've moved back to Stoke now. I found what I wanted easily.

Nice small supermarket to work in, most staff are friendly.
