If you want to have the worst customer service experience imaginable, spend months on end without the appliance you’re needing and have to be the one constantly following up on its progress, this is the business to deal with for your electrical repairs. After talking to other locals, our experience isn’t a one off case so we are sharing our review for others.Our dryer went in to Johnstones in February needing 2 issues looked at. One was obvious (broken clip) and the other was undiagnosed (drum issue) but we provided info on what had been checked ourselves. A month later we got an invoice and message that the repairs were done - however it was only the door clip and the person repairing it failed to do anything with the drum issue. Nearly another 2 months went by, where the only updates we received were when we phoned and happened to get the right person, but most of the time, a message was taken with the promise of a call back which never once happened. After incorrectly determining the wheels were the issue, we were finally told in early May that it was the motor that needed replacing. Eventually we were told that this repair should be covered by consumer guarantees given the dryer was less than 3 years old, and we submitted a claim with Fisher&Paykel. We made Johnstones aware that we were moving regions at the end of May so it was important that these repairs were completed by then, which given that it had already been with them for 3 months, shouldn’t have been an issue.Over the following weeks, we called multiple times for updates. Often the store wouldn’t answer our calls at all. We were eventually told the wrong motor had come in due to a model change, and they were waiting on the new one. As we approached moving day, no one could provide an update and we explained if it wasn’t ready, it would need to be shipped up to us. We never heard anything more. A few days after moving, we phoned for an update and explained how frustrating it is that all we have asked for is some communication back from them and for them to actually call back like they kept promising. The next morning, we received a very nasty voicemail from the owner Mary, along from an email from Fisher&Paykel stating that Johnstones were refusing to fix our dryer as we had moved outside of the region. They didn’t to mention to F&P that they had already had our dryer for 4 months and failed to complete the repairs they said they would do. When we phoned the store to talk to Mary, she answered the phone using our name, which confirmed our gut feeling that they were well aware what our number was and had been screening our calls. Mary’s answer when we explained how frustrated and disappointed we have been with the communication from them was that “well we can’t get back to all our customers”, along with some other foul language.We thought we would support local but this experience has been the biggest time wasting and completely unnecessary situation. We would recommend using ANY other electrical providers before having to use this business

Purchased front loader washing machine 3.30ish on a Saturday afternoon. By 4.15 the same day it was delivered and installed by the technician. Johnson's, your service and professionalism was awesome. Smiles free.

Terrible service. The product I tried purchase a product but it was priced wrong. The person I dealt with could not have been snottier. They corrected the price but did not apologise, and then dismissed me with a hand gesture.. I choose to shop at local small businesses, but I will never shop at this store again
