The Heads Hokianga
Staff were really nice. Villa room was very nice. Restaurant food was very expensive but delicious. Beautiful views.Internet did not work anywhere that i went on site (my room, restaurant and lobby), and the pool was green and sludgy. It looked like it hadnt been cleaned for most of 2022. Obviously, it was out of order. I really wish someone contacted me to let me know about the pool as its the main reason i booked my stay for a romantic getaway. I paid almost $400 per night for a villa with internet and a nice pool area. I feel robbed as it is fake advertising.

This hotel is in the best spot to enjoy the Hokianga harbour, so many photo opportunities. We stayed in the standard rooms which were around d the back so didn’t have the water views but the other rooms looked amazing. So would go with waterfront if you can. A little dated inside, but all you need to. The pool wasn't operational when we got there, so good to check on that before booking if wanting the pool. The location though 5 stars !!

Similar to other reviews, the location and staff were great. However the room itself was filled with bugs, the bathroom was falling apart, the mini fridge was leaking water, the internet didn't work, and our room key would stick in the door unless you pressed in on the lock at the same time as pulling, the light fixtures were filled with dead bugs, there was no fan in the bathroom, the furniture was extremely basic. Overall a bad value especially considering the price.

Wonderful place to stay and have dinner with. Our room has a very comfortable bed and sort of minimalist type of design. We had a good sleep.Our meal was divine and lovely. We had the steak, ravioli, fish and chips, fried cauliflower together with dessert special for Valentines and the panacotta.Our servers were professional esp young Tyson.We were also able to get free breakfast for two with decent portion and the coffee were lovely.Let down: The takeaway coffee was so bad that we ended up not having it and threw it away.

The views have got to be the best you’ll get in Omapere, with it being on the water it’s a lovely spot. The room was adequate, however, the bathroom was falling to pieces and unhygienic which really let down the room. The kitchenette had no cutlery, cups etc and the jug didn’t work. The staff at the restaurant were amazing and great company. Unfortunately, we were quite let down by waiting 2 hours for our entree of scallops which we believed did not meet the standard of the price they sell it at.

Nice location & great views of the waterbut the rooms are in desperate need of renovating.We stayed in a 2 bedroom unit & for the prices you are charging per night it surely doesn’t make it a four star hotel!!!!!The water pressure in the shower was extremely poor which made having a shower not a pleasant experience & the hand basin was blocked meaning you couldn’t use it as the water barely drained away.Otherwise the food from the restaurant was nice & the wait service was good.

The setting is lovely and the place has such potential. Staff were helpful. But the place looks tired. The restaurant meal was very disappointing greatly overpriced with the steak so tough that it was near inedible. Room was clean but noisy with tree branches banging on the roof, though to be fair there was a storm at the time.

If this hotel’s manager treats his guests as poorly as his employees, I better understand the bad reviews of the Heads Hokianga. That man is a terrible communicator, he doesn’t respect people’s time and doesn’t own up to anything. Coward, over-sized ego and no decency. It’s a shame for this beautiful hotel that would gained from better management.

Tv needs an upgrade to smart TV.Bathroom- needs better shower curtains as water goes everywhere while showering. It can cause one to slip and injure.Staff are very friendly and helpful

The room was diabolical. Furniture was so basic and bed uncomfortable. Shower was falling apart. Spare toilet roll covered in dirt. Curtains covered half the window.Food was extremely overpriced. No coffee at breakfast. Staff were friendly though.I was pleased when we were leaving which isn't a great sign..!Having said that the views from the hotel were good and it's convenient to be picked up from there for the waipoa footprints tour (which was excellent). But I would recommend you stay elsewhere even if it is for 1 night.
