Ridiculous how you have to actually be suicidal to be taken seriously. People shouldn't have to get to that point to be able to get people to see them. To be turned away by the people who are supposedly meant to help you would leave anyone feeling disempowered and useless.Way more funding and resources to the mental health system in NZ is needed so the mental health staff that care about their jobs stay in those roles and are able to provide better care for their patients. This doesnt apply to all mental health professionals of course, but most people are clearly overworked and want to get people out the door as fast as possible, which doesn't provide useful long term coping strategies - the very same reason there end up being repeat admissions to hospitals because they haven't been able to access better care when they leave.

I was very impressed with my care the Psychiatrist was very thorough with informing about all I needed to know on what steps we were taking. The Nurse was also very supportive.

Took me two years to finally get the proper diagnosis after multiple trips here from GP referrals (which took months at a time).They push pills on you and send you out the door without a follow up, a treatment plan, or related contacts for your specific condition.Also came here for a session of couples dispute/resolution. Whoever conducted the session was horrible and I wonder how on earth she earned her qualifications. My husband and I thought it was a joke.Above all, the public health system is horrible, and in a way has made aspects of my mental health worse (waiting times, seeing different people with different options, too many different/wrong diagnoses etc). So I can’t entirely place the blame on this facility as they only have a certain amount of resources to work with.I hope this next leg of government can actually make some changes to streamline the way we as individuals are handled in the public health system

This place is a nightmare!If there was 0 star l would rate it.l wont even refer my worst enemy under their care!No empathy even if patients dies in their care waiting for treatment they won't give a toss.Each phycriterist will given different diagnosis until the patient is confused what they have.Underqualified unexperienced staff.lack of funding to offer therapies.Lame excuse that soo many people are under waiting list and in same boat.Even if case is serious to the extent patient is taking own life they absolutely dont have any procedure in place to deal with serious situations for patient under their care.Authorities need to get involved & investigation need into the poor management of this place!

Triage nurse assessment over the phone in less than 1 minute. Told me to go private. I mentioned I was diagnose at waimarino with a serious condition in 2017 and now I need help again with the same condition I was diagnose at waimarino. The nurse told me to go private.

Understaffed and staff they do have treated me like a leper. “Doctor” continually rolled her eyes when I spoke of my distress and medication side effects. Total Mickey Mouse system. All they do is push pills and give wrong diagnosis. My last medication induced psychosis which is why I ended up in care. STOP pushing medication. It does more harm than good!

Had 1 appointment there then uni work got in the way. Tried to make an appointment with psychiatrist just to be told my file was closed. I'm livid. Just because I got busy with uni, they closed my file without my knowledge?? That's just wrong! How are people supposed to get help if you're gonna close their files without their knowledge??

Have to go here often to visit Marinoto, great at holding meetings poor at offering practical help or assistance when really needed. The NZ mental health system is broken
