WOW!The hosts Greg and Peter are the best host couple I have ever met, who are warm, easygoing and professional. Amazing information for visiting the little town was given upon arrival along with some interesting facts and historical for this 120 years old house!It feels like a home away from home as the big lounge always has great jazz music playing, it is clean and organized, the ambience in this space is beautiful.In every corner of the lodge, you can find amazing art pieces and nice decors representing the local history.It’s a stylish and cozy place to stay and they have the best breakfast (definitely not a bribe when I say their breakfast can beat anywhere in the town center).We loved our room and lucky enough we are staying in the one with the newly renovated bathroom!It has everything you need for a getaway in Russell and the hospitality provided by Greg and Peter definitely is even better than some of the 5 star luxury properties. They have made this place so presentable and lovely.We came during the unpleasant spring rain season, but staying at this beautiful place has made it like we have had the best getaway ever!Definitely will come back and stay again.xx

We feel so blessed to stay in this lovely cottage. Peter and Greg r the best hosts. Peter’s breakfast is exceptional tasteful and healthy. They also recommended and helped us the best dinner in Sage of the winery and memorable sailing trip to the beautiful white sand beach.. so much going on during this trip. The property has the fantastic view and clean, nice decorated, cozy.. Definitely want to come back and spend more time!! Ivy & Tim

What a wonderful stay we had here. First of all, the breakfast was great. Secondly, Peter and Greg really want to make your entire stay in Russell a great experience. They gave nice recommendations about what to do. And when we could not find a cab to bring us to one of the activities, Peter offered to bring us there himself. What a service!We would definitely recommend to stay here.

Old world charm and hospitalityWe were greeted by Peter at the door and instantly made to feel welcome. He showed us around this glorious property before showing us to our room. We stayed in the Ranginui Room which has the most beautiful view over the bay. Our bathroom was across the hall but private to us. The room and the bathroom were spacious and impeccably clean. Our hosts Peter and Greg had thought of everything.We meet Greg the co host the next morning at breakfast, and he is just as personable as Peter. Here we were treated to a delicious breakfast with plenty of variety. They cater for all types of dietary requirements.The property is an easy stroll into the Russell township.We stayed three nights and loved it. Would I stay again? Definitely, we will be back!Thank you to Peter and Greg for an enjoyable stay.

First class attention to detail and wonderful breakfasts on the deck!After several false starts trying to visit Arcadia Lodge at the start of Covid, we finally made it this time. The stay was certainly worth the wait.Resting on old whale bones, the Lodge dates back many years. However, it has been sympathetically updated over the past years into a wonderful Lodge with individual rooms and outlooks. All rooms are tastefully decorated and incorporate many of the old features.The hosts, Greg and Peter, are extremely thoughtful and provide everything that you require for a peaceful and relaxing stay. Greg provides an excellent orientation of the Lodge and also provides visiting/evening dining suggestions. Peter creates some of the most exciting breakfasts with home baked goodies out on the deck if the weather is kind. He even created some gluten free goodies for my GF wife - she was very pleased not to be left out!! They have also a selection of excellent local wines that you can enjoy for a very reasonable price.Our two night stay was outstanding. We are now looking at next year to bring more of the family, as we understand that they cater for family get togethers, etc.We certainly look forward to revisiting in the not too distant future.Well done, excellent job, Chaps!

We recently had the pleasure of staying at Arcadia Lodge for 2 nights - it was simply wonderful.The Lodge is sparklingly clean, airy and welcoming. We stayed at Arcadia Lodge in January 2023. Peter and Greg were great hosts and Peter being a “Russell” local is very knowledgeable on the area recommending places to visit and also booked us in to a couple of very good restaurants. The accommodation is great as is breakfast and Peter’s cooking plus the views from the lounge across the bay are fantastic.

A boutique lodge located a very short walk into the idyllic town of Russell in the Bay Of Islands.Greg and Peter are the best hosts. Before we arrived they recommended some superb places to eat. The breakfasts are to die for, beautifully presented and making use of ingredients from the garden Peter beats any chef I have encountered.The rooms are tastefully kitted out with everything you could possibly want and have views overlooking the bay.Couldn’t fault it, the most perfect three night stay!

5⭐ for the wonderful hosts, beautiful historic home, attention to detail with regards guest comfort, amazing breakfasts and incredible view. The location is easy walking distance to Russell and the ferry across to Paihia and all that the Bay of Islands has to offer both summer and winter.

The most obvious place to start this review is with Peter and Greg, who could not have been the more gracious, helpful, and exceptional hosts. While the Arcadia Lodge, its history, and Peter's food are undeniably special, the uniqueness of the experience and the joy of staying at Arcadia comes principally from Peter and Greg's wholehearted and obvious passion for running their lodge. Peter's breakfasts are alone worth five stars, as are Greg's recommendations for things to do around town coupled with his telling of Russell's (and the Lodge's) history. Everything in Russell is walking distance from Arcadia, and the ferry across to Paihia and Waitangi is easily accessible. Since we were apparently the first in Arcadia's known history to do so, we must recommend going to Tapeka Point to watch the sunrise across the Bay of Islands! It is stunning (though it is a short hike)! We could not more highly recommend this stay!
