Piccolo Morso Bakery & Gelato Lounge | New Plymouth

Five star coffee and service in bohemian style lounge-cafe. Lovely people. Bakery A+Comfy but rather poor use of space and old furniture. Druther see some old leather sofas or chairs that can be kept cleaner. Maybe some bar stools along one side for people just waiting for their laundry across the road, over a coffee.

Can't comment on the bakery side....but the gelato is fantastic! So many fabulous flavour combos and lots of cute arm chairs and couches to relax. Def recommend for gelato

Stopped by for an ice cream and was not disappointed. Friendly staff and lots of gelato option (including vegan/dairy free) meant there was something for everyone. Kids play area was a plus. Will definitely stop by again!

Point 1 is we love the pies and cakes. For a bakery that's a key message BUT I've had 3 recent bad experiences. I had my Aussie son in law and his family coming to dinner and they requested a pie night. I ordered 30 pies of specific fillings and cold for me to heat up. It was more than two weeks ahead so on the day i could pop in and pick them up. UNFORTUNATELY not only wasn't my order ready but they didn't have pies with the fillings I'd ordered. I did take what they did have. No apology.Next before Easter I asked if their buns had peel. The assistant asked me what is peel then she went to the baker and asked him. No he said. I said then I won't buy any today. She replied in a stunned voice.. you actually want peel???? And then this week I wanted a load of bread. The bread rolls are uncovered and alongside where the public stand so I choose bread in a bag. I asked the assistant wearing a piccolo morso branded tshirt for it to be toast sliced. He took the bread from the bag with his bare hands, ran it through the slicing machine then had trouble getting all the slices to go back in the bag so he handled the bread a lot. I told him he should have used gloves because he was also handling money, tongs, and his uncovered hair. I did buy the bread as it will all be toasted but instead of t shirts the shop should invest in staff training and customer service. I don't know if I'll go back.

Really busy shop and nice variety of bakery goods on display.However, was not impressed when cashier used their bare hands to put my purchase in a bag and then use the cash machine/eftpos.Basic serving hygiene not good.

Great little bakery that was open way before most other spots in the area. Staff were very lovely - great service :)Surprisingly great range of vegan options too - we had a yummy vegan korma pie (pastry on the pie was amazing!), gingerbread slice, iced donut, cinnamon scroll and four super creamy vegan gelato flavours!Will definitely be back next time we are in town :)

The cinnamon rolls! OMG! They are proper cinnamon rolls with delicious icing all over the top of them. They are the perfect amount of doughyness as well so they are baked to perfection.The coffee mugs they bring you are also super adorable and the staff are really friendly. I love that they use natural plants in the restaurant as well.

Had a couple of sandwiches from here now.So good, perfect bread.Everything else looks great.
