Wharariki Beach
Amazing natural carved rock formations, vast open sandy beach backed by dunes and native forest, swirling tides, seals, and seabirds

Perhaps the best sunset beach in New Zealand? Definitely my best spot in 4 months on the South island. Had one amazing and one cloudy sunset but the colours were insane. Also to note it is a windy little spot

We drove up to wharariki beach for the day and man it was one of the coolest places. It was very windy, 30kts, but even then it was so fun to be there. You are first treated to a visit from a local peacock in the parking lot. Very cheeky and practically climbed in our car looking for some crackers. The 1km walk through the sheep and cow pastures were stunning, but bring shoes you might not care for as there is plenty of poo! But all the poo in the world wouldn't keep me from the views and exploring the beach. Go at low tide so you can explore everything with no fear of getting caught and having to take longer tracks back. And don't just stop at the first islands there! There are massive caves to the left and go even further down the beach where there are heaps more caves and other beautiful wife arches. STUNNING.

Very nice beach place! You can know it from Windows 10 wallpaper. Very windy! Take your jacket with. Small walk from car park. Best during sunset. Few seal cubs on the beach.

Cool beach. From a car lot, it is about 15 minutes. Better when is low tide. From the beach, is there a nice walk to The Cape Farewell by the cliff.

Unusually, words fail me.Quite a few folk visiting, maybe 20 cars in the car park which was nearly full. We tend to potter, being pensioners'

What a stunning beach. If you're anywhere near Motueka, I recommend traveling over the Takaka hill and experiencing this place. A nice walk through farmland from car park rewards you with unmatched views.

Great place, feels like the end of the world. It is about a 20 minute walk from the parking place. The road to the parking place is partly gravel (10 minute drive). Famous for the windows background pictures, we found a seal in the cave which was really cool.

Awesome beach! Nice and pretty walk through cow and sheep pastures to get to the beach. Once you get there it’s still quite a walk on the beach.Very windy bring a jacket and tie for your hair! You will be pelted by lots of sand! I was able to see seal pups swimming and playing around in the rocks! So cool! The beach is very picturesque!

Genuinely beautiful place, a must visit. The rock formations and caves are spectacular. A bit too crowded though, both car parks were full and there were lots of people on the beach.
