Chip n Dayal's Fish and Chips

Best takeaway fish and chips we’ve had for ages. Also had kumara fries, hot dog and potato fritters, all of it was crisp and fresh.

Real cheese in the burgers and amazing hot doughnuts with a generous cinnamon sugar sprinkle.

Their fish seemed to be fresh so it was not fishy at all - that was nice!Batter didn't stay super crispy though but it was more like a regular fish and chips material.Corn fritter was doughy and a bit salty for me.Chips... chips were very disappointing. If I am to go back, I am going to order just fish and then go to everyday takeaway which is 1min walkway to get chips there. Way better chips there, fried right.Squid rings were better than big j's. Pineapple fritters were yum.

Just moved to the area and been here 3x, always so happy with the service and quality of food! Definitely gonna be a frequent customer. Great portion, reasonable price. The chips are really good, crispy outside and soft inside. Love the lemonfish. I was a bit ditzy and forgot my tartar sauce yesterday, and today the owner give it to me when I came there again. Thanks!

Tried for the first time recently, I saw so many amazing reviews and was quite excited to try it out!Unfortunately though our experience wasn't the best as our food was incredibly oily and didn't seem to have any seasoning. I found the tartare sauce quite sweet too. Cinnamon donuts and crab sticks were excellent though, just wish the batter wasn't so thick on the fish etc. Also ended up being quite pricey compared to other places.Will have to give it another try sometime in case we caught them on a bad night! Customer service was excellent though!!

First time we have been here. I was asking around friends of any good takeaways that they know of or have been to. They had heard of this one. A little expensive because we had burgers. Totally understandable with the price of food these days. I have to say, they were delicious. If a works burger can fill up my hubby, it has to be good. Great service, great food. Next time I will do a phone order as it is very popular, wait time if you order there can be a little long but they do tell you upfront. Appreciated the kind gesture of the bottle of drink for our dinner. Definitely worth the trip.

I have lived in ellerslie for 2 years and i have just found this take away . How did i miss it as its only 5 min away from me . Its been a great experience so far . I first tried a egg burger Omg the best burgers I have ever eaten and i have eatten a few, the generous home made meat patties mmmm great salad fillings, including beetroot, the burger buns are even yummy . I then have had some potstoe fritters , u order 2 you get 4,,, standard practise , they are a good size nice and crispy. Perfect thickness and not oily but then i tried the home made spring rolls omg light and crispy with a realy tasty filling not the stanard tasting spring rolls from other take aways these are unique to this take awsy . I can't wait to try the curry rolls. I ordered two the next time . They have a great menu with variety and a couple of unique items, which u will need to visit to find out they offer a selection of 3 fish i think Place is so clean and tidy . I have waited 45min for an order and i had no problem waiting as it was worth the wait . Next time I rang it through so i suggest you do this as it has a very large and loyal customer base . Also they do close around 7.30 -8 ish so dont leave too late . This place is probably my best takeaway ever and I have had a few takeaways in my time . It's the little things that count like Mr Dayal brought my order out to me in my car where I was waiting, its the way they wrap their burgers up for you ,I know it sounds silly but it makes a difference , the burgers stayed nice and warm. I look forward to slowly working my way through their menu .

Foods decent. Portion sizes (chips) are very small. $6 chips didn’t feed 2 people.

Really consistent food and reasonable price. Best in the area! You can't get bad F&C's from there. Variety of fish available.
