All the great things you’ll read in these reviews about Dave and his lessons are TRUE! This talented musician was born to play and teach. I started lessons about 2 years ago - I left it until I was turning 50 to give it a try - Dave has taken my guitar journey seriously since our first contact and continues to give positive encouragement at every step - I love our lessons, and I can choose to play what I like - don’t leave starting your journey as long as I did - Dave is the BEST! - Mel Hodgson

Dave is an outstanding guitar teacher and musician. He is unfailingly positive, supportive and encouraging and at the same time he pushes me to learn and to grow my playing skills. Despite being highly skilled and talented himself, he seems to remember what it is like to be a learner, so when I hit challenges he always has options and ideas for different ways to approach things. The weekly emails with written lesson summaries, and sometimes little custom made videos are invaluable. I could go on….and on…

Dave is a fantastic teacher, he is a very talented musician himself and plays in a band. Dave is patient, encouraging and always finds a positive approach whilst teaching the difficult things. My 11yr old son loves his lessons and thinks Dave is uber cool (we do too!).

Auckland Guitar Lessons
I take my 3 daughters to lessons with Dave, 2 for piano and one for guitar at the moment. The girls love going to the lessons and have learnt so much in a short amount of time. Dave has a great manner with them and pushes them to do and try more each time, while keeping the lessons fun and interesting. Being able to choose the music they learn to play is a big incentive too, nothing like lessons when I was a kid!

Outstanding guitar teacher. My son started lessons when he was 5 years old, Dave was patient, skilful and motivating in equal measure. I enjoyed watching the lessons so much that I got my own lessons with Dave too. 5 years later we’re still loving lessons with Dave, and are now also playing the electric guitar, singing along, and dabbling with a loop pedal. He makes learning the guitar so much.

Auckland Guitar Lessons
My now 13 year old son has been learning guitar from Dave for around 7 years now. Dave is amazing, we both just love him. He has a real gift in that he’s both an incredible musician and a highly skilled, intuitive and attentive teacher. My son respects Dave immensely and really looks forward to his lessons each week. Dave’s care and attention to detail is also impressive - with written lesson summaries each week, plus little videos etc and the annual concerts are awesome. I feel that we are so very fortunate that Dave is my son’s guitar teacher - and I simply couldn’t imagine anyone better.

Auckland Guitar Lessons
My son has been going to Dave for around 6 years now. WE LOVE DAVE!! He is the perfect mix of getting in along side his students in terms of their personalities, tastes and pace of learning and works with them to those things. He pushes them when necessary which is good but encourages them to take responsibility for their learning and practice. Generous, kind, good natured and really skilled Dave is absolute value for money. Can't fault Dave.
