Hertz Car Rental Auckland Airport
Landed really late into Auckland Airport February 16th, had reserved a car from Hertz, and really glad we did! The staff was so sweet and helpful, I don't think I have ever really had such a good experience with any like this before. I wish could remember their names... Thank you again, and hopefully you'll be there when we drop the car back off!

If you want to get robbed, don’t rent your car here. Look how bad the reviews are below…. Unfortunately I was issued with my insurance. The car was nice , I filled the tank up when I returned the car. The people at the front desk clearly are lost. Only one guy there, knew what he was doing. Good customer service! The rest needs to be trained proper! But the response I get back from them is within 2 or 3 business days how ridiculous. Still haven’t received my bond back. If a scam was a person it would be these guys. Received an email saying ACCOUNT not be found to return my bond back? Waited 5 x days more to receive and none zzz as I have been advised at the front desk. Failed their policies and procedures. Can’t even deal with them. Then asked to take a photo of the rental car. How am I suppose to take a photo when I returned the car back in good condition. Y’all ok there? Stupid

I recently rented a car from Hertz in Auckland Airport during my trip to New Zealand, and I must say that I was appalled by the level of customer service provided given the amount of years I have used the rental company.We arrived really early in the morning to pick up the vehicle. The vehicle had smudged fingerprints on the windows and there were food crumbs left in the vehicle from the previous driver. We informed the staff of the dirty vehicle, but the staff at the rental desk tried to get rid of us by giving us another dirty vehicle which made the pickup process really difficult. We attempted to contact the rental desk at the airport about five times after we left to return the vehicle again due to the state it was in, but no one was answering the phone.We then phoned the contact center to inform them on the situation and asked them if they could reserve a new car for us somewhere, they advised us to exchange the vehicle at the Auckland CBD branch without checking with the branch. We arrived at the CBD branch only to be told by the manager that they had no vehicles for an exchange and opted to clean the vehicle instead. We had no choice but to have the vehicle cleaned. The manager at the CBD branch was kind and understanding.The vehicle was struggling to drive properly during my trip as if it wasn't being serviced. I would turn into a driveway and starts shaking as if its too scared to get into the driveway.As always, the drop-off process was quick and easy. Overall, my experience with customer service at Hertz in Auckland Airport was very bad, the misleading instructions from the contact center was not what we had expected and I have always had good experiences with Hertz. I hope that my next experience will be a whole lot better than this.

Wow. This is going to be a long story, but the length is necessary to capture the quality of people at the Hertz Auckland Airport location. We rented a car here and were pleased with the quality of the car, kind service, and convenience of the location. Everything was smooth and seamless... until the next day when we discovered that my husband had lost a small bag with his passport and some other valuables which we would need to travel home. We entered into a frantic search for the bag, including retracing our steps at Hertz. Unfortunately, the bag didn't turn up. Fortunately, we were able to secure an emergency passport from the USA Consulate in Auckland. Three weeks later and back in the USA, we received a call from a New Zealand number. It was Madan from Hertz! The bag found its way to his office through a chain of events and he happened to remember our situation. Everything was still intact - the forms of identification, my husband's wallet, and some cash. He offered to put it in the mail to us. We were elated and couldn't believe the generosity of the location.Guess what was also in that bag? A lithium battery. Guess what the US postal service won't allow in their systems? That's right - lithium batteries. A few weeks later, we received a call from Echo at Hertz. The bag had been returned to her and she wondered if maybe she could mail the battery to one of our friends in New Zealand. Let me make sure you're getting this - the Hertz location was offering put things in the mail for us THREE separate times - the first failed voyage, the battery to a friend, and the bag sans battery back to us in the US. And guess what else? They wouldn't accept any payment from us!Folks, I don't know about New Zealand, but this level of service in the United States is rare. They were willing to invest their own time and resources into helping out some customers who rented a car for a couple days from them. I will absolutely be renting with this location any time I'm back in Auckland, and I encourage you to consider them as well.Echo and Madan, thank you for taking care of us. We're so touched by your generosity. We promise to be more vigilant with our things in the future!

Booked BMW 328i or similar. Was attended by Maddy who, 1. Did not acknowledge what car I was getting until I asked. She then said it’s Polestar to which I was surprised as I did not expect a electric car. I showed my booking and was it is an error from Expedia and we can’t do anything about it. Furthermore I requested if it can be swapped for Tesla if this is my only choice, she responded they have issues with Tesla charging so are not renting them.Frustratingly I asked if I have any other option, she said I can give you small SUV which would be a downgrade and will still be at higher rate. She then further suggested rudely that I can check next door (Avis/budget) if they can find you a better car.She processed the payment from credit card and sent me agreement on my email. While I was checking with Avis and they not only found Tesla but also at a cheaper rate.I went back and told Maddy I do not agree to your terms since I have been forced to take a car which I do not want and comfortable driving. In addition I checked next door as per your suggestion.She said she will tell her superior to process a cancellation and refund the amount. I said that’s fine but I need a receipt or something to say that you have charged me the amount. She replied she doesn’t have anything to give and will be processed within 24 hours abruptly. This was on 25th And now it is 30th of June and nothing has been done.

I am a corporate customer of Hertz. On the trip to Australia and New Zealand I’ve rented on several locations like Uluru, the Hertz Rental cars. The service all over has been tremendously good.. At the Auckland airport it was horrible. Our flight was within next 40 minutes. Unfortunately because of 1 1/2 hour delay on the highway around Auckland. We requested the personal several time, whether they can deals quickly, however, without any response. We rushed leaving all other information to the airport as it was raining heavily and took a taxi as unfortunately we parked rented car at the domestic airport and our flight was at the international airport and paid almost $25 just for domestic to international transfer. Really horrible service for which I would never rent again at Hertz for this location.——Update on 18.02.2023I will still say that the service at the counter was horrible. The claim processing Fuss and contrary, excellent. The the processing time has been excellent. The comments very modest. The whole issue worse process to my fullest satisfaction. Thanks a lot Jess - you found a solution.

We had a terrible experience with this Hertz airport branch, despite having used them without problems in several other countries. We rented an Electric Vehicle (EV) and had trouble charging it due to all NZ chargers being app-based (warning to international travelers, don't rent an EV unless you have a NZ-based phone because you may run into this issue).That was our mistake, but we reached out multiple times to this branch via phone and email but couldn't get a response. We ended up driving back to Auckland airport to return the car for a petrol-based car, which was fine. But it was very annoying that they didn't pick up the phone or return my call.A few days later, cyclone Gabrielle struck and we had to extend our car rental by a day. Again, it took about 10 calls before they would answer the phone. They did extend my rental when asked, but it was very nerve-wracking that they don't answer the phone and when you try to call customer service, they can't help with extending rentals. If you have the ability, I would definitely go with a different car rental agency.

Do not waste your time (or money) renting from the Hertz Auckland Airport location. Expect 1-2 hour wait if you do. Wish I would have considered the warming from other reviewers. Never waited to long. Corporate failure as they only have one person working regardless of how busy or how many scheduled pickups. They reply to the negative reviews, but clearly have taken no action to address the issue. Better luck at Avis, Europcar, or any of the other 6 car rentals desk right next door (all appear to move at a normal rate and have no line). See photo: all the people waiting are Hertz.

Not a good service only one person on ,both times nearly a hour wait, we had basic insurance, we got a chip in the windscreen which we told them and now they have charged us for a new windscreen, i would have thought basic insurance would have covered it. Not very happy, would not hire from this company again
