Great little place to stop and visit with huge servings of food. Nothing special other than the kiwi uniqueness and frienliness of a local northland pub, which is rapidly disappearing

Really cool rural vibe pub with friendly staff and tasty honest pub grub. The burger and chips was both well priced and tasty (which is an uncommon combination) Apparently this place is only open a couple of nights a week but it is well worth a stop if tasty burgers and fish and chips are what you need !!!!!!!

This is a very interesting local attraction. Must see if you have children or interested in historical New Zealand rural development, with a very modest admission fee.

Beautiful setting for family gatherings. Loved the big shaded area out the back and another grassy area for the kids to play.

We had lunch beef burger delux. Excelleny meal. Would have given 5 stars but service a bit slow. Staff were friendly and a lovely spot for a break whilst travelling. Pet friendly too.

Update on post below...Have now eaten here. Food passable. Service still gruff. Made me laugh how miserable she was.Don't count on the free WiFi either. The password is closely guarded!Original post...Check first if you want food in the evening.It's on SH1 so very handy. Visited in the evening when it's mainly a bar for locals. A gruff woman behind the bar told us the kitchen closed about 7.30. can't comment on service during the day - it may be better.If you're looking for food in the evening I would recommend the motel the towhai tavern which is only 5 minutes from here.
