VTNZ Porirua

I had my driving test this morning with Fynn. He was very professional and friendly, which helped me remain calm during the test and focus solely on my driving. His instructions were also very clear.

Arrived at the queue of cars, at 11:20am on Friday 13th (!!) January 2023; took almost exactly an hour to get to the inspection pit. No too bad I reckon, 9 vehicles in one hour (one with a very long caravan!).Inspection was pretty quick. Staff were friendly and efficient, plus appeared to be enjoying their day - that always gives me a lift!Got told the oil was low - hence purchased a litre of oil - probably legit, I had not checked the oil in ages, and it is a 2001 Camry with just over 300,000k so... even though I didn't ask for an oil check, it is actually a good idea in retrospect! So, thank you :)Good experience overall. Would use again.

I knew from the moment I met my instructor Alan that I was not going to pass. He did not seem in a good mood at all, this made me pretty uncomfortable. He genuinely raised his voice at me over a very minutiae error where I waited for too long at a give way sign. He specifically said “alright this is too slow you need to be going faster” in a raised voice. I was so shocked as he had made no effort to make any sort of conversation before the drive even started. I was absolutely shocked that someone I had just met was raising their voice at me over nothing and then on I couldn’t focus. I went on to fail. When we got back to VTNZ he said I did really well until the fail. This confused me as he was acting like he didn’t like my driving before he even raised his voice at me at the give way sign. Alan’s attitude and raising of voice completely put me into shock which contributed to my driving and because of this I was set up to fail.

Vtnz is good! Always busy but very professional. Have been taking my cars there for a long time. Costly these days for a wof but it is what it is. Enjoy seeing some of there old time workers always happy n say hello everytime im down there.

Went to get a warrant and waited for 3 hours before giving up. At the 3 hour mark I was still 4 cars back. People were going in to ask staff about the long delays and the counter staff were quite rude and unhelpful. When I went to ask staff if they could give me a rough estimate of how much longer they wouldn't give me a time estimate. So I went to look in the pit and there wasn't even anyone checking cars. The man at the front of the line said from 9:30am to 12:30pm they had done two cars and he had been waiting at the front of the line for an hour already and no cars had been taken in.So I went to suggest to staff that they let people know what was going on and got a very abrupt reply saying it was Christmas and everyone wants everything done at once. Didn't look like a Christmas issue - more like they didn't have enough staff and couldn't be bothered going down the line letting drivers know. It had become a safety issue because cars were queued out onto the main road. Another driver and I went down the line letting people know what the situation was then those of us who couldn't wait any longer had to try to get our cars out of the queue.Definitely won't be going back to Porirua VTNZ again.

Rang these people Answerphone only with a 'we will ring you back' message. Terrible service. So I rang Levin VTNZ. They answered and when I went there I had the best service I could have wished for. Pick up your game, Porirua. That answerphone gives the caller no confidence whatsoever that you will ultimately provide great client service.

Wof due, My ist visit to vtnz today. Failed cause I need new wiper blades(thought it was my eyes) No cars queueing, so zipped in ($78 wof). People and service excellent. Also got a service check up thingy ($28) which told me what mechanic has to fix. Took 20 mins. I'll be back.

I booked far in advance to sit my driving test here, and am notified the morning of they needed to postpone my test, so I re-booked a date 2 months later. AGAIN THEY postponed my 2nd test. Very frustrating since I have planned my trip to WLG around this test. No reason provided for either of the cancellations, and VTNZ do not help in rebooking, have to wait on the phone with NZTA for 40 mins to rebook.

Awesome staff Awesome service..i got in when it wasn't that busy. Last time I waited an hour to be seen so make sure you bring a book to read or a movie to watch on your phone.

Really slow, no one in a hurry, seems to take 20-30 minutes per car. Far to slow for me who took a lunch break to do my warrant. Next time I will drop it at a mechanics where I can leave it there and will be ready at the end of the day. Sorry but did not suit my timetable. Ok if you have a spare 2-3 hours
