What a wonderful surprise!! I have not had such BEAUTIFUL fish and chips since....well, since I don't know when!You may be like me and find fish and chips are invariably a disappointment....they look good, they smell good, but the taste is anything but. So we usually bypass the fish and chip shop. But a spur of the moment decision saw us devovouring the yummiest takeaways we have had for a long, long time.They were hot and crispy, not soggy or fatty. The fish was a generous portion of bluenose, and cooked perfectly. YUM!Well done Black Cat Takeaways, your staff are to be commended. We'll be back!!

Every time I have had the Fish it has been amazing, fresh and well sized. The cheese bites are epic and the option of lard or cooking oil is awesome and unique to this place. Go maybe once or twice per month and its good every time. Service is always good.

Really liked the food there over the last six months or so. We have gone there every time we wanted som f n c’s. Decided due to the weather did not want to wait so rang to do a ph order. My partner rang three times I rang twice no answer and I was hung up on like lift ph up and drop it. So now we are ordering online somewhere else.Might go back next time we feel like driving to the local. Might…..

Fantastic Ragamuffin burger, very tasty, fish was very moist, not fatty this was juicy and the chips were great crunchy outside and soft inside, highly recommended you try them, first time I’ve been there, next time I’m in Nelson I will be back. Cheer’s, Wes.

Sorry to leave bad feedback but our fish and chips were not worth the paper they were wrapped in . Dry chips, the fish tasted fowl and was mostly bater which was too crunchy and burnt. Shame as its a nice presented place . Sorry but we will not be back

Disgusting presentation, not fresh, old food, so small, soggy and tasted gross..what a rip off! Won't recommend or go there again. What a shame this is our local.

I feel bad posting this but sorry, the food was terrible. Only 1 person working and a half hour wait for food.Ordered $50 worth of food and burgers for 2 adults plus a 5 year old and easily finished the meal.Fish was unbelievable watery, batter was doughy and definitely undercooked.Fish bites were the same.The battered mussel was defrosted in the microwave in front of the customer.Food was only wrapped in a couple sheets and the grease easily went thru the packaging.Burgers tasted ok but very dry, the egg was overcooked so no runny yolk and the patties were the thin frozen supermarket ones.Also include a picture of the Hawaiian burger. I swear this is not doctored, that's how it looked when the lid was lifted. Also note you can almost see the carpet thru the paperService was fine, unfortunately there needs to be more than good service for me to come back.

The quality of the food was ok, even the service was pretty good however, the Potato Fritters were wafer thin, the fish fillets were about 4 inches long our scoop of chips was less than what I could have held in one hand, and we asked for a curry roll and got a vege roll instead. All in all everything tasted fine but the portions were far too small.

wasn't that great, the fish was incredibly fishy, batter was half raw and there was a hair in the food don't think I'll go back.

Very nice fish n chips. The chip portions are a little small compared to others but the quality makes up for it. Have tried a few times now since reopening and has always been a great experience. Thank you
