About the Business
The Greedy Cow | Situated in the beautiful high country township of Lake Tekapo, we get rather hungry looking at beautiful views of lakes and mountains all day. Luckily we have amazing food and coffee to fill the void! So don’t wander around our lovely town being a hungry cow, come and see us and try not to be a greedy one.

This eatery was very highly reviewed and we were excited for our brunch, but were a little disappointed in the end. The place was busy and the wait was around 40 minutes for food,l and 15 for coffee, this was no issue given the food was to be delicious. Unfortunately the food was average, tasty but nothing outstanding. The coffee was hot and tasty, but 15 minutes is quite a wait for a cafe. There were lots of staff but there seemed to be inefficiency somewhere. The food was good, but not outstanding. We had the pancakes which were tasty but there were some raw bits in them, and the Turkish eggs which were well presented and tasty, but not the best I’ve ever had. This eatery has so much potential, and today might have just been an off day, but it needs a little bit if polishing up to convince me of a 5 star rating. (There’s also only one singular toilet for a busy restaurant of >30 diners, this needs fixed)

Great coffee and food. Friendly staff and the price is reasonable. Its a little gem in a small town. I've been travelling a lot and found the breakfast is yummy. We are not coming for a done dining so I disagree with some poor comments. The cafe was not very busy today and he food came in a timely manner.

My favourite place for breakfast in Tekapo. They makes good coffee and good foods! They starts gets busy and crowded starting at 8am.Recommend trying out their french toast!

Definitely one of the go to spots for breakfast and coffee at Lake Tekapo. Huge selection of food with plenty of vegetarian options too. We were surprised at how good the coffee was especially Tekapo being on the smaller size in terms of population.This place gets very busy very quickly so food does take some time to arrive which has been made worse with staff shortages, however you would have had time to thoroughly enjoy a great coffee before the food surrounded by friendly people and fellow tourostWe ordered the greedy breakfast and the French toast (both vegetarian) and whilst the greedy breakfast wasn't anything overly special, the beans were a bit watery and the scrambled eggs i ordered were a bit over done, the French toast was very well done highlighted with two huge thick cut slices of toast.Also ordered a nut slice to fuel me up for the Mt John summit and found I had devoured it half way up it was so good.

close to the best oat milk cappuccino in New Zealand. Also, the pork belly pie was marvelous! crispy flaky crust with a Chinese 5 spice gravy that was well-balanced. the macarons are massive. not sure that is a good thing, but the pastry was delicate and the filling a quality butter creme. I will be back, and so should you!

This place is so wonderful! The staff are really polite and friendly, prompt service, nice interior decor, and most importantly, the food taste great! The eggs Benedict is really flavourful, and yet the bread is still nice and crispy. The hot chocolate is one of the best I’ve had! Definitely check this place out if you’re near lake Tekapo!

Local recommended to go here for breakfast, said it's the best in Tekapo and it did not disappoint! Highly recommend the pancakes. Very large portions, reasonable prices, extremely yummy food. This place is very busy as it's so popular so there may be a wait for food but lady was upfront and told us there may be a longer than 40 minute wait for food. Got our food in 30 minutes so exceeded our expectations. Great service!! Hot chocolate and mocha was great too!

Sometimes it’s the smallest towns that produce the best places to eat and drink and the greedy cow packs an awesome small town punch.This place is popular and you can expect it to be busy when you visit. Even with the large throws of people to satisfy we found the service friendly and efficient.The coffee here is amazing and they do all your favourites in a variety of sizes. Take out or stay and enjoy a cup inside or alfresco on one of the outdoor tables.The food is great and the serving sizes present great value for your dollar.It’s also great to see a cafe doing breakfast a little different. I tried the Beef Hotpot and it’s a great twist on the hum drum eggs and bacon on toast. You get some beautifully tender beef on top of a cheese omelet swimming in a tasty gravy. I used the bread to soak up all the wonderfull gravy and this dish was hearty and satisfying.There are cabinets with sandwiches and pies and sweets for those inclined.A must for anyone travelling this beautiful part of New Zealand where the food and coffee is top notch.

Absolutely adore our go-to café in Tekapo! The staff is incredibly warm and welcoming, and their breakfast options are simply extraordinary. Indulged in the delightful egg Benedict, accompanied by a delectable vegetarian twist featuring spinach and mushroom. Pure perfection! Immense gratitude to the entire team!

Loved this place for breakfast/brunch. I would say their coffee is the best in lake Tekapo.I ordered the eggs benedict with salmon it was super tasty! All was cooked perfectly.The service was friendly too, note you have to order the food and drinks at the till.
