Maungaraho Rock Reserve
Gentle walk around the base of Maungaraho Rock. There is a summit climb for the more experienced person with fab views from the top. Care is needed as ropes and ladders are used to help the climb and going in a group or at least with someone else is preferred.

Not maintained at all. More or less unmarked but still easy to find. Nice views and not even one other person on the track that day.Absolutely beautiful for a small 1h hike with a bit of a climbing part on the summit track

Maungaraho Rock Reserve
Did the base track walk around this amazing natural rock feature. It is only a 45 min easy walk around the base and well worth the effort, if you have the energy there is also a summit track, didn't attempt that this time but one day.The car park is only 20 min drive from Dargaville so check it out if you are visiting.

Track not well maintained so you've got to be really keen. We thought we'd just do the base walk but it was too much of a scramble and we gave up but it's a splendid location and worth visiting just to see it up close

It's a great spot and a fun climb but the track is not well maintained, and the signage pointing the way up is too easy to miss, so some people get lost and have to turn back or climb unsafe areas.

A nice quiet quaint spot.A place for those in campers to park up and rest.A place for those who love abit of a hike and an ataahua (beautiful) view of the meandering Wairoa river flowing towards the Kaipara Harbour.Ample parking space for families to get off the beaten track and have a nice quiet spot to park and rest or give the kids abit of a run around.10 minutes from Dargaville Town centre.Easy directions.
