Aelia Duty Free Auckland Airport

duty frees (tabacco at 35NZD still very expensive tho...), also: sim cards (vodafone 25NZD). conveniently located on the way out, friendly and helpful staff

We had a long flight delay at Auckland airport so we spent some time browsing around at the perfume section at this shop. There was no other customers and the staff were talking amongst themselves. We were having a great time browsing the perfume when a staff member approached us and said “we are very low on energy right now and if you are not buying anything you cannot stay here long, we cannot keep watching you” we were really shocked so left immediately. It was really unexpected and at the time we were feeling guilty that we inconvenienced the staff as it was a late time at night. But we still felt that maybe for a shop that is supposed to be open 24 hours at a 24 hour airport, perhaps the staff should be given more breaks so that they are not so low on energy that they have to ask customers to leave. I am also a retail worker so really empathise with the difficult work retail staff have to do especially on late night shifts and I also think a healthy work environment makes a huge difference.

Phenomenal customer service by Paul Khosla, he went above and beyond to assist with the selections and the recommendations were top notch, the whole staff was very patient and was not hounded like you generally do at the duty free, Paul gave enough time to settle and feel at ease.Thanks Paul and team Aelia for a 5 star experience.Keep up the good work Paul Khoslacheers mate

Was initially just browsing through the watches, but with the help of Paul’s extensive knowledge, advice and friendly charm I ended up buying a beautiful Rado watch! Would definitely go to him again :) Staff at the counter were extremely friendly and helpful as well.

Complete rip off.I've just checked prices against two NZ retailers. One bottle was $10.00 more expensive. Definitely not duty free.Wont be buying here again

We were passing by the duty free and stopped by their awesome Rado watches collection (my wife loves the brand), when the store manager Paul reached us and showed himself to be a deep connoisseur of each of the items in the collection. He gave us an enlightening overview of the products and made us feel warmly welcome. We will definitely stop by the shop and purchase other products next time we’ll be in Aelia duty free!
