Sharplin Falls Reserve
Lovely bush walk in beech forest so close to our motor camp at Mt Somers. So much to explore around here. Picturesque virgin stream (gives way to open cattle country shortly after) with small champaign pools in the forest, alive with bellbird, rifleman, bush wren, and we even spotted deer prints. Track is well maintained, with excellent steps. Flush toilets and shelter in the car park with adequate signage.

Excellent tramping around Mt Somers- but note that DoC pamphlet published 2014 just before waterfall track was permanently closed, is still being handed out. I agree with other reviewers that Sharplin Falls" carpark to Dukes Knob is steep and not really an 'easy' section as indicated in DoC pamphlet."

Oct 22I'd heard rumour that you could Boulder hop to the falls, since the track has been shut for many years due to landslide. Sure enough, we managed to get there and spotted some promising signs of a new track on the way. And then we got to a new lookout above the falls, and managed to follow the new partially completed track and makeshift bridges most of the way back to the carpark. Further investigation revealed the track is opening 'soon'. So exciting

Very beautiful reserve and river full of giant boulders. Easy wide trails for the 10mins of track I chose

Sharplin Falls Reserve
Took a hike up to the summit of Mt Somers. The lower trails were quite muddy but lots of trail building is happening.

Fantastic bush walk by the river although I wish DOC would get their act together and remake the track to the waterfalls. Can't get near it due to a slip... 4/5 years ago!

The walk to woodshed Hut is a bit steep for the first hour but worth it once you get to Dukes Knob.

Sharplin Falls walk is still closed walked halfway to the huts to the lookout or awesome view
