Quite the drive up from Auckland but definitely no regrets! The views were spectacular.. its history and what the place meant spiritually were intriguing.:) Disclaimer.. once u park.. the walk to the lighthouse would take u about 30 mins to and another 30/40mins back since its a gradual climb up but the views are worth it.At the lighthouse, u will get to see where the tasman sea and pacific ocean meet. Wow.:)

Absolutely my favorite light house in the whole country. It's worthy to travel here even by hitchhiking for several hours from the capital city. Then stay overnight next to the lighthouse and wait for the sunrise over the ocean. It was so wonderful night under the billions of stars above my head.

Fantastic place to visit, long drive, just do it! A town nearby with fuel and food. Bring shoes ( not Aussie hiking boots, thongs/flip flops haha) The experience is worth the effort.

If you are up north, you really should go up and see the lighthouse and the view. You can see the Spirit Tree from the short walk to the lighthouse, and the history of the area has been carved into wooden and concrete tablets along the track. There are also many walks in the area for anyone keen enough to have a look around. Just check the weather before you head up to make sure the drive pays off.

This lighthouse was said to be the most northern point in New Zealand that’s accessible. When I was there, the view was simply awesome and breathtaking. Really loved the point that it’s the meeting point of the Tasman Sea and the Pacific Ocean. It definitely is a windy place so I would recommend jacket for sure and super careful if you’re wearing a cap. Time just passed so fast as we were there. It’s pretty amazing that during my drive there, I don’t really see any cars but when I reached the carpark, I was surprised to see many cars parked there and also many tour buses as well.

The walk down to the lighthouse really drives home how remote and isolated it feels at the far end of the Northland. The area is extremely sacred to the Māori, who believe this is where the spirits of the dead come to descend to the other world, and that sense of the sacred permeates the area. The Lone Tree clinging to the side of a rocky bluff, visible from the path down to the lighthouse, is believed to be the exact spot where spirits go in their transition. There is ample parking and there are restrooms with flush toilets at the top of the trail. There are at least two other trailheads leaving from the same parking lot, but as of May, 2023, both were closed, likely due to heavy rains and storm damage.

If you take a long way to get there, you will be rewarded with a great view. We were there early in the morning so it was pretty quiet. On the way back we were met by countless cars. It is impressive to see the power of the two seas.

A must for everyone, if you haven’t been to this place, you missed a lot. Fabulous and beautiful. The walk was easygoing and will definitely enjoy the serenity around you. Be careful though when taking photos on the edge of the wall. Take time when you are here, take photos from all angles, highly recommended.

We drove to cape Regina on a sunny day. This trip was in 2022. We took our own vehicle and made it back on a tank fuel. Driving along the 90 mile stretch was all good. We dared not to drive on the sand because it can turn out to be a disaster. There are lots of parking place and toilet facilities are clean to use. The walk to the Lighthouse is well maintained. Wheelchair access is possible. This place hold a very special meaning and cultural significance to the Maori community so we need to respect that. We also walked down the lighthouse to the bay below. There is no tracks but was possible. Some youths were swimming in the bay. We spent like 3 hours here and returned back to our accommodation. You will love it.

Very nice and peaceful ✌️. On our visit day, it was very, very windy. If traveling with young kids, be careful around the edges. It is one of the sacred places, that's for sure. I don't think you could ever be disappointed going to the Lighthouse.
