Good afternoon I would recommend McHughs to everyoneWe were a party of 11 today for lunch to celebrate 2birthdays. The food was outstanding and Raj and his staff are so lovely. What a beautiful and historic place. The food was simple (what I prefer) but delicious, and the service was exceptional. I am gluten free and I could eat all except 2 options on the mains, and they made a special batch of mousse for some gluten free dessert. It was a really nice experience!

The selection of the buffet is a bit small, however what is there is very nice. Fantastic views and good friendly service

We always enjoy our meals here. All the food is tasty so I don’t feel there’s a need for a bigger selection. My daughter doesn’t eat meat and yet we find most of the dishes and salads she can eat. Service is friendly and the atmosphere is calming. I also appreciate the spaciousness, especially between tables. No bumping into other people. As it was high tide, the water looks amazing. I suggest you bring some swimwear for a dip afterwards.

A wonderful and beautiful setting to invite my family and close friends to celebrate my nursing graduation - sunny day with local beaches and Rangitoto Island in full view.Abundance of fresh foods, variety of tasty dishes - meat lovers, vegetarian, European, Middle Eastern, Asian and much, much more .. ending with a variety of tasty sweet desserts and fruit salads.Customer services is no.1 with my guests feeling so special and welcoming.So perfect ... and we will be returning back soon.

Not exciting, but historic. Very good buffet. Plenty to choose from, and very well cooked. McHughs is an institution. Been around for decades. In a beautiful situation, with amazing views.

Excellent food, definitely fine dining. The menu is extensive, and the food is delicious. It can be a bit expensive, but they also offer deals and specials on different nights, so it’s worth checking them out before you book. I highly recommend going here.

We had our wedding reception here last December 2020 & It was the best ever choice we had in choosing Mchughs! James, the restaurant manager is very nice, easy going, down to earth, go an extra mile for us and cater all our needs from the very first meetup up until post wedding!. The guests really enjoyed the view and most especially the food, it was superB!, the desserts were spectacular,not too sweet. James also allowed us to decorate the venue prior our day, so we will not be on a rush & yeah! Our wedding reception & program at Mchughs went very well as planned. Guests were really impressed! Thank you so much James & we will definetely be referring Mchughs to our friends and families. A++++++

Very disappointed, had been looking forward to buffet lunch. Variety of food was poor, no seafood at all. Had looked up menu on line. False advertising as I was going because of food listed most of which didn't exist. Overpriced for what we got. Pudding was passable. You shouldn't advertise for what your not going to receive. Will not be back.

Always a lovely experience here! James the owner is very accommodating and we’ve had family Xmas lunch here for many years, as well as our wedding reception a few years ago! Beautiful location in Devonport.
