The Bay Motel
We think this must be the best place to stay on Stewart Island. Awesome view over Half Moon Bay harbour. Waking up to beautiful bird songs. Eating dinner on the terrace surounded by the native New Zealand birds. And of course a very nice and tidy room and the nicest hosts you can wish for. We stayed for 2 nights but would've relaxed here a lot longer if we could.

From the pickup from the wharf, the clean comfortable rooms, amazing views and easy location we really enjoyed our stay. Room was emaculate and convenient breakfast made early tour starts easy. Recommend for any Stewart Island stay.

We were met at the ferry by the manager. Even though we arrived in theorizing, we were allowed to checking to our room straight away - no early check in fee!.Our room was spacious, opening onto a balcony with views of bush and the Harbour. Tuis aplenty to listen to and watch. The room was spotless, the bathroom well laid out with a great shower, decent sized handbasin and good ventilation. We were dropped at the ferry terminal for our return trip a couple of days later. Good location for views, walking, proximity to museum, DOC centre, dining, etc.

Very nice place. Open the doors of the veranda and see the Kaka's appearing. Nice room, very good beds. Very nice people too. The view from our room was excellent, of the bay of Oban, with all the boats. Won't go there again, but will remember.

Great motel. Lovely views out over the bay. Great supply of breakfast food. Awesome heating especially as it started snowing on our last day there. Had a Kaka land on our hand rail on the deck

A great little motel with amazing views of Oban and the sea. We were even greeted by some cheeky kākā right outside our window! Amazing pick up service by Roel - highly recommended stay!
